  2. It was a beautiful sunny day when Oliver arrived at Rainbow Falls, perfect weather for taking some great photos of the landscape. He'd been hired to get a few shots for the SolMag but to be honest he would do this even without the job, Rainbow Falls was a wonderful place and he already had a thousand photo ideas in mind. He started walking around the area, taking shots every now and then, eventually climbing the hills, hoping to get some good landscape photos. Once that was done he decided to take a break, resting under the shade of a tree and setting the camera beside him. It wasn't long however until he heard footsteps nearby and turned to see a pet he'd never seen before. It looked a like a sheep, but with a rather impressively huge wool coat. The purple creature looked at him, a small smile on its face. "Hello buddy, who might you be?" Oliver asked with a smile, curious about his new company. The sheep like creature just continued looking at him, holding his attention. That's when he heard a noise behind him and turned around just in time to see another one of these pets, this one blue with a bright pink mane, quickly dart away, his camera held in its mouth by the strap. "Hey!" Oliver shouted, immediately taking off after it. He chased it around the hills and eventually up the mountain terrain of the Falls. There had been a few close calls but he always missed the pet, it would then briefly turn toward him and give off an indignant "Baaah!" before dashing off again. Somehow in this whole mess the creature even managed to get the camera around its neck. On one hand that meant it would be harder to retrieve, but on the other it also meant the camera was in far less danger of being dropped, Oliver was at least grateful for that. Eventually he realized though that he couldn't outrun the pet, it was already faster than him and he was getting tired too. He looked around, hoping to find something that will help him catch the little thief. That's when the paths in front of them split, with the pet running down the lower route. Oliver knew it was risky, but he hoped the upper route would be a shortcut. He charged up the rocks, following the twisting path until he reached the edge. He could hear the pet approaching, meaning he indeed got a shortcut. It was a bit high, but still manageable, thus he crouched down and prepared to pounce when the time was right. Soon enough the sheep came running down the path, a bit slower than before and looking back every now and then. He wondered if it was looking for him, but there wasn't much time to contemplate on that. The moment the pet got close enough he jumped over the edge and started sliding down the wall. However the pet noticed him and made a quick turn, resulting in Oliver barely touching its flank before it jumped away, leaving him laying in the dust. "Dammit." Oliver exclaimed in defeat, he let his head thunk against the ground, too tired to go chasing after it again. However he didn't hear it run off again, in fact he heard the steady sound of hooves approaching, not in a run but a paced walk. He didn't even want to look up, for all he knew this was another trick, but instead he heard something being carefully set down. He looked up and there was his camera, he immediately snatched it up, looking it over for any damage. He sighed in relief after confirming it was still intact. "Baaah!" Came a rather annoyed call. Oliver looked back at the pet, it somehow looked... Offended? Indignant? Honestly Oliver should be the one feeling like that after what the little thief did. "What do you want?" He asked, sitting up and patting some of the dust out of his hair. "Baah." The pet smiled and proudly lifted its nose in the air, presenting its mane. "Ummm. What?" The photographer was still confused about what this strange pet wanted. "Bah!" The pet looked indignant again, then it bumped its nose against Oliver's hand and once more raised its nose into the air, putting its mane on show. "Okayyyy." Believing he got the hint, Oliver reached up to pet the creature's fluff. That was, without a doubt, the softest thing he had ever touched. The mane was incredibly fluffy and he could only imagine how wonderful it would be to have a bed made of this stuff. Way too soon though the pet stepped away, though it nonetheless seemed pleased. It gave of one more "Baah!" before happily trotting off. Oliver watched it leave, really not sure what to think of the encounter but far less upset about it than before. "That was quite impressive, not many can gain Prince's approval." Said a female voice behind him. Oliver jumped and immediately turned around to find two more of the sheep pets standing by the spot he jumped down from earlier. There was the purple one from before, joined by a yellow one this time. "I guess? Although he caused me quite a bit of tro- wait, so you guys can talk after all?" The two pets giggled before the purple one spoke again. "Of course we can." "But you see, Prince doesn't talk unless he really wants to." The other snickered. "Right." Oliver decided not to question it. That most definitely was one crazy day.

  6. The icy mountains of Solopia were a cold and harsh environment, dangerous to traverse even for those experienced in navigating such terrain. One could never know when another blizzard would hit, and this is precisely how the human girl and her Chilee companion found themselves lost among the frozen land. Leianna trudged on through the heavy snow while Mia, the young Chilee, was bundled up in the human's coat. The blizzard made navigating through the mountains difficult and they didn't want to risk losing sight of each other, luckily Mia was small enough to be carried, allowing them to move on without anyone being accidentally left behind. But the journey was still anything but easy. "Le, are you sure this is the right way?" Mia asked in her soft voice. "The blizzard makes it hard to see, but I'm sure we are still on the right path." In truth Leianna wasn't too sure of that, but she didn't want to worry her friend. Leianna knew that they couldn't be too far from the way home, they had made most of the journey before the blizzard struck, but now she could only hope that it didn't throw them off course. If it didn't clear up soon, or if they can't find the way back to the valley, then they would need to find a safe place to wait it out. Leianna didn't want to think of the alternative... It was then that the human's thoughts were interrupted by a worrying sound. It was a low rumble that carried on the wind, loud enough to be heard over the storm. Mia immediately tensed up in Leianna's arms. "Was that an avalanche?" She asked as terror started spreading through her heart. "I.. I don't..." Leianna looked up, trying to find any signs of an oncoming avalanche. Yet as she looked through the storm she noticed something else. There was a large rock sticking out of the ground not far away from them and on it stood a shape. Leianna's first thought was that it was a Chimare, but no, it couldn't be, the more she looked the more it became clear that this was something entirely different. The creature stood proud and tall on top of the rock, seemingly unbothered by the storm raging around it. Mighty paws planted unyielding into the ground, strong body holding near eerily still as the icy winds billowed through its thick mane, two fearsome fangs protruded from its maw, and those icy blue eyes which looked directly at the two lost travelers, holding a grim and unreadable expression. Leianna just stood there in stunned silence, unsure of what to do. Then the cat-like creature jumped off its perch and started walking away from the course they were headed. For a moment the two girls thought that was the end of the encounter, but then they heard another rumble and saw the beast turning to look at them expectantly. That's when they realized the rumbles weren't an avalanche, but instead the beast's low roars, it wanted them to follow it. Leianna decided to trust the creature and started trudging towards it, if it wanted to harm them it could have easily done so by now, so wherever it was leading them it must be safer than here. Apparently satisfied to see the human follow, the feline continued on its way through the blizzard, leading ahead but still keeping a slow enough pace for the other two to not lose track of it. As they kept walking Leianna noticed the beast's pawprints in the snow, marveling at how big they were compared to her own, this truly was a being born for a life among the snow and ice. Time was a lost concept in a blizzard, but by Mia's judgement they must have been walking for about half an hour until finally the wind started growing weaker, a few minutes more and visibility grew as well as the blizzard calmed down to simple snowfall. That is when they saw the creature stop and sit down, only glancing briefly at them before directing its gaze forward again. The human caught up to it and the two girls were met with a welcoming sight, they had reached the end of the mountain roads and before them now lay the path toward the valley, toward home. The two wanted to thank their kind savior, but as they turned around they saw no one there. There was nothing left of the strange beast, nothing but huge pawprints in the snow leading back towards the mountains.

  8. With a new avatar or shall I say icon now? What do I mean you say?! Well, it is said that a long time ago, when the planet was still young, a tragedy befell Solopia. A star had fallen from the heavens one night and got lost on the planet's surface. The sun and the moon themselves mourned the loss of the little star, cloaking the world in a gloomy darkness as they embraced each other in their sorrow. But none of the Solopians knew of that loss, for those who saw the star fall didn't understand its meaning, nor that of the darkness that suddenly surrounded their world. There was however one creature that was different. They were small and meek, living close to the ground and with no special abilities to match any of the other beings on the planet, except for one, long pointed ears that gave them exceptional hearing. For you see, ever since the star had fallen the creature had heard its crying far in the distance. The creature knew that to stop the gloom they would have to find the source of the crying, and so they went on the long journey to find the star. The creature had to face many challenges, from dangerous predators to tricky terrain, but eventually after weeks of traveling they reached their destination deep inside a jungle. Hidden beneath the tall trees and overgrown plants lay a newly formed crater and inside it was the little star. The creature was able to comfort the star and clutching it tightly to their chest the creature started climbing the tallest tree in the area, high up to its crown where both of them called out to the sky. Hearing those calls the moon and the sun descended and were overjoyed to be reunited with the star. "You have done us a great service, young one." The sun spoke. "Ask for whatever reward you wish, and we shall grant it." Said the moon. The creature thought long and hard about what they wanted before voicing their wish. "I am but a humble creature, there's nothing much to me. But I've admired many of the other beings of this planet and would wish to be more like them." "Speak your terms then." Said the sun. "I wish to be tall, so that I may easier reach the fruits of trees, and see what lies further ahead of me." "It is done." Spoke the moon. "What else?" "I wish I could change my coat and always match it to how I feel. I love the colors of the flowers and the other beasts' intricate patterns, but mine were always so dull, you see." "It is done." The sun said. "With this blessing you have not just been granted a single pelt, but also the knowledge to craft many more from all kinds of materials and colors, so you may always change it as you please. Anything else?" "Yes, one last wish, I've always envied the songs of the birds. I wish to be able to make the music they do, and mimic sounds as easily." "It is done." Said the moon once more. "But still you are not the strongest, don't you wish any natural weapons to defend yourself or fight for territory?" "No." Said the creature. "I only wish for peace, and I've already asked enough." "As you wish." Spoke both sun and moon in unison. "Your wishes are granted." The little creature was then enveloped in a blinding light, their form reshaping as they grew bigger and longer, eventually standing on two legs, a giant compared to their original form. All over their body appeared soft cloths, draping them in dashing colors that could rival the jungle's birds and flora. And within their minds they knew of songs and sounds they never heard before, and ways to make even more. The creature stood there now, unrecognizable as what they once were, for they were something entirely different now, except for one tiny detail, the sharp pointed ears that led them on this journey. The sun then spoke up again. "Dear creature, may we know your name?" And the creature responded. "I am human." Build Your Own Human Avatar Here
