  1. I've never cheated to gain an advantage over other players. There is nothing I hate more than people using "aimbots" and "mods" in online competitive games to get an advantage. However, I like using cheats or glitches that make the game more fun and interesting to "mess around in". I like games that provide in-game cheats (ala GTA universe where the cheats are added in by the devs) I like games with fun glitches - the best will always be back in the days of HALO 2 on Xbox Original, where you could use the Sword and Rocket Launcher glitch to get outside the map. Obviously this was done with everyone in the game agreeing not to kill each other and kept me entertained for hours haha. And then there is the glitches that unlock stuff that you wouldnt otherwise normally get - I recently started playing Pokemon Red again, and first thing I did was the Teleport glitch to get Mew in Cerullean City - it wouldnt be obtainable by any other means, so dont consider it "cheating" par-se. haha.
  2. These are some really nice images. Good luck selling!
  3. Update number 4 is now available and is more philosophy than an update, but still provides some useful insight: http://thelostfable.com/temporary_forums/index.php?topic=7.0
  4. So I saw this thread by @Digital and thought I would also add a variation for discussion.. What is the /worst/ username(s) you have ever had? At the time you thought it was hip or cool, then looking back years later you're just like "wtf was i thinking". For me, when I was age 10-12 (internet thought i was 15 haha), my username was "boythatscool". I didnt have any friends online or in real life, so my logic at the time was that if i had a username that told people "that is a boy that is cool", people would be more likely to want to know me... however looking back, im just like "euch omg.". Anyone else have a username you are ashamed of or regret? lol
  5. I wish I could give a really interesting backstory like you guys... but i like to just use my name, or a variation of it. (xbox: "Tuber Nate", PSN: "the_dark_nate") I'm boring like that lol.
  6. Haha yeah! Starting a couple of weeks ago, I showed my 10 year old daughter the basics of HTML, and then pointed her to a few resources online on the topic. She disappeared to her bedroom for a few hours with her laptop, then re-appeared and had created a pokemon website, it's adorable! I couldn't resist but to upload it to the internet - completely unmodified: http://nate.tube/sophie/Homepage.html Once she gets to grips with it I'll start teaching her some of the do's and dont's (eg, not using a table for the layout etc). But for now, for her first attempt, I'm extremely proud of her PS. Made it easier for her by letting her use Dreamweaver, rather than classic notepad haha
  7. Yeah Adsense has a bad habit of dragging a site downhill. The only real use for an Adsense account now is if you have a Youtube account. Perhaps you could also consider account upgrades in the future - eg, $5 to show more than one adoptable on your forum post detail thingie, $2 for a power boost to double your earned power for a week etc
  8. The information given here by everyone is really useful information towards bots in general. Perhaps one of the contributors should consider making a guide for "How to handle/prevent bots on your site/game"? Tagging all of them: @Aminirus @Digital @chazerz @Anoua
  9. Welcome to TGL. Hope you enjoy your stay here
  10. It is a pretty good idea, and i feel it could make the game more interesting and dynamic. I think the only downside to it though would be enforcing it. In my experience, with things like this, users would end up making multiple accounts to avoid the additional taxation costs >_>
  11. Nate

    I'm back!

Looks like lots has happened since i went on holiday last week! I'll be catching up with everything today. I went to Woolacombe with my wife for our year wedding anniversary and the weather was surprisingly good for this time of year haha! Hope you didnt miss me too much
  12. As a hardcore Taylor Swift fan (I'm not even joking), I highly recommend the remix of her "Shake it Off" and Nine Inch Nails "Perfect Drug". Best. Remix. of .all .time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhvXST1Rc3g
  13. Me and my wife watch the final every year and cheer on England (in the hopes that we get a single vote woo). This year it is happening on this weekend (May 13th) and we are actually going away on holiday for our wedding anniversary (This year Glamping oh yes!). Still cant miss my Eurovision fix.. so I'm expecting my 4G bill this month this month to be much higher than normal haha! Hopefully my favourite winner of all time (from 3 years ago) will host it again this year (Conchita ftw!) Anyone else watch eurovision?
  14. This is perfect, exactly what I was looking for as far as explanations on the core differences between Groups and Pages, and why I should choose one over the other. I already have a Facebook Page setup, so I'm going to close it down and make a group instead! Thanks for sharing, this is very helpful, and I'm sure this will help many game owners (I've joined your group btw )
  15. I too would love help setting up my Facebook page. @Aminirus you should convert your post into a guide ????
  16. It seems a lot of people had their beginnings in HTML :-) Can honestly say I never really did the neopets guilds stuff :-(
  17. I guess the real question here is: What makes a good plot?
  18. So my friends finally convinced me to try it out... and I cNt put it down, HELP!? But, no seriously, I played the BETA when it first came out in 2015 and thought it was terrible. They have made so many improvements since then, making me realise beta testing is very important haha :-) Only problem is that it is very clear it is a cash cow - it exists only to suck money out of its players - same as CSGO :-(
  19. Everyone has that one particular memory where they didn't know anything about programming, but it inspired them to learn it or explore it.. My 'catalyst' was when I played Pokemon red as a child and was fascinated by the depth of the game squeezed into such a small cartridge. I then acquired Macromedia Flash and taught myself ActionScript through trial and error. I wanted to make a tile based game like that.. to this day I never have though haha. Im curious to hear what started other coders paths down the coding alley?
  20. I will try and convert it into guide form as a first draft in the next week or so, if you think it would be beneficial as a guide on TGL :-)
  21. Kinda necro'ing here but felt like giving input on this... The Altador Plot on neopets was my favourite plot I ever did as a child. It is actually what inspired me to create the "Cecies Disappearance" plot when I owned IcePets 4-5 years ago.
  22. This is great news, and gives everyone something to work towards! Looking forward to more awards!
  23. For some reason I only just recently found this topic while exploring more forums. This is a fantastic guide on getting started in the virtual pet site world! Very informative, detailed and answers all the right questions. This should be like, stickies or something haha ????
  24. Ok. I've decided to play thru Skyrim. I've bought it and plan to start playing it soon. Any tips or suggestions before I start playing? (I'll probably also record my experience with commentary and plonk it on my YouTube channel too, so any tips that make the game easier so I don't look like such a noob would be very much appreciated haha)
