  1. Hi Paul, great game! Just a suggestion, but for the me the rotation seems to be too sensitive.. When pressing up it sometimes rotated twice while pressing it, but other than that it seems pretty solid, good job I was wondering - What is the reason for it being so tall? I have to scroll my screen in order to see the full game, is this just for example purposes? Is there some benefit to having that particular dimensions?
  2. Hey all, I've played with HTML5 before, but never created anything "published". I decided to crack open the HTML5 tutorials to start getting to grips with it. I've made this... thing, and was wondering if you thought it had the potential to convert into a full blown game? Click to focus, then WASD to move around. You cant die at the moment, but the idea would be that you lose lives if you touch them, and each time you collect a "fruit" a new monster appears. http://thelostfable.com/html5game/
  3. Good Luck with this, Personal Growth is the best kind of growth
  4. For me it is rapid growth. Up until March(ish) I was coding it on and off. My typical night would see me playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - Search and Destroy. Each time I died I had to wait for the round to end, so during that 2-3 minutes I would do a little coding here and there. Since March however, I've been waaay more dedicated to my game than last year and I'm eager to open it. My biggest issue which I have accepted is that I am going to open it later this year with only a taste of all the planned content I am going to add to it - my worry is that people will thing it is dull and boring purely because it isnt complete yet :-/
  5. Yes! I <3 Death Note . It is my favourite Manga/Anime (dubbed)! Light Yagami is clearly the "bad guy", but right up until he dies I'm rooting for him and hoping that he lives this time round! haha (I um... watch Death Note on repeat many times a month.. I've watched it over 100 times and could quote the entire thing...)
  6. I use PHP for my backend. I have a custom PHP framework that I drag into most projects I do. During the development of said project, I sometimes find ways to improve my codebase, so I'll migrate those changes into my other projects, or simply just apply the changes to my source so that the improved version is used in the next project I do. I use it out of comfort more than anything else. It's the second programming language I learned and I have never looked back
  7. @Digital, I agree with @Bravefoot. It's definitely worth a shot. The only down side is the limitations. It took me 4 generations of magikarp just to get through 1 league, due to the level cap aaargh.
  8. I bounce onto Flight Rising periodically to see what is new, and sometimes visit Marapets/Neopets if I'm in the mood for flash games. I also like to visit IcePets every few months to keep in the loop with what they're up to. Other than that if I'm on the computer I'm usually working on my own site, so dont have much time to try others haha
  9. Spoiler Alert: I would certainly recommend it. I doubt it would come out on multiple platforms though, as it is one of those exclusives that really set the PS4 apart from it's competition and which I assume Sony is cashing in on big time haha

  11. I completely agree with @N_E_Wunn's biased view on the reasons on why PC gaming is better than Console gaming. However until a PC can become convenient, I'm happy to always stick with my consoles. My children have PS4, Xbox One, Wii and Xbox 360 all setup in their bedrooms, and they can click a button, put in a disc and play. The best part is that they had the PS4 3 years ago.. now I can go out tomorrow and purchase the LATEST PS4 game and they can simply slot it in and play it. No "setup the OS", virus scanning, concerns about hacking, upgrading because your new game wont run on it, etc. The downside to PC Gaming at the moment is that you cant do this. Purchase a PC game that comes out tomorrow and try and run it on an average PC that is 3 years old, and it's likely you'll be missing some core component ("OMG I dont have PixelShader 3.0 on my GFX Card".) Time to upgrade my computer, yet again. On the flip side, Factorio (PC exclusive) is my favourite game of all time. -- This is just an opinion --
  12. So I recently switched from Sky to NOW TV. With NOW TV comes all the E4 stuff (with no adverts omg!), so I'm working through Misfits again haha! It's a fantastic show about a group of teens who are doing community service who end up with super powers. Anyone else watched it? What do you think? Iwan Rheon (Simon)... such a hero in this (opposed to Ramsay Bolton in GoT).. I love him. Thoughts?
  13. I'm currently considering getting rid of it. I'm just not enjoying it >_<
  14. Found this and thought it was worth sharing. (I did not draw this)
  15. It really depends on the feature/functionality. As digital suggested, if it is for a one-off feature or "daily" you will likely validate your form to decide whether to show it to the user. This same validation can be used on submit to check the user still has permission to view the form (this means a double click - the second click would be denied) if however it is something where the user user should be able to do it twice, but you specifically want to stop a double click, let's say - when posting a forum post - what I actually do when a post has been submitted is to check the database to look for a post with the exact same content, posted by the same user id with the same topic id and posted in the last 30 seconds. If all this is true then the system just does not insert the content. This means a on a double click, the first click will submit the post and the second click will submit it but it won't save to the database.
  16. The sidebar content on the "main" forum page does not match the sidebar content once you dig into any of the forums. I wanted to see who was online and the current power leaderboard, however this data is not available when viewing the forums homepage. Could we make it so that regardless of how "deep" you are into the forums - the sidebar content is consistent? PS. Remove "Trending Clubs". IMO it is irrelevant compared to the other things and just makes it so you have to scroll really far to see the online list and power leaderboard for today. PS2. Turns out the online list is not on there either... where has this moved to?
  17. OMG Wow that adoptable is amazing! I'll be adopting one straight away! Great job @Aminirus !!
  18. Yes! Although I've found it is very EA-ified. You can play loads and loads then BOOM the paywall hits and you gotta wait 3 hours or pay some cash now. I would prefer it if i could just watch an advert to play another battle etc >_<
  19. Haha I see what you did there! and thanks :-)
