  1. So this book is one of my absolute favourites, when I was reading it I couldn't put it down. It it has a unique way of telling it's story, and many of the twists and turns you don't see coming. Speilberg is also currently making this this into a movie which is really exciting! (They filmed some of it in Birmingham near me woo). Anyone else read read this book, and if yes are you excited for the film adaptation?
  2. Ah, didn't realise we can move letters around, haha. In that case: date
  3. True! You are male.
  4. Haha ? Good call with the Wii. It's a great console but I think it's downside is that it is getting quite outdated - fast. It's only draw for me now is the party games. I only play the Wii if my kids decide to, I've never found myself drawn to it to play anything by myself :-/ How come you picked Wii instead of WiiU (note: I've never owned a WiiU so cant say what's the difference tbh)
  5. So if we ignore all this "PC Master Race" nonsense for a moment and focus on the latest generation of Consoles, which do you prefer? Both Xbox and PS4 have their pro's and con's (I own both) and I have to admit that I like them both but for different reasons. PS. I'm not including the Nintendo Switch in this since it isn't a real console and hasnt been out very long. *written to trigger* For anyone interested: Xbox: Tuber Nate (with a space) PSN: The_Dark_Nate Thoughts?
  6. I must admit - the fact that they do not suffocate when inserted into the rectum is my number 1 reason for wanting one
  7. Holy Smokes, I'm Mr Popular today! Thank you @Hare, @Nova and @PaulSonny :):)
  8. Most virtual pet sites employ some form of inventory system purely because items are essentially just another currency the user can trade in (whether they are aware of that or not). It would be interesting to see specifically a VPS operate without an inventory system. Thinking outside of the VPS bubble however, it's easy to understand why this is such a common (and almost mandatory) feature - Runescape/WoW/Diablo/Pokemon <insert colour here>. Even games which didn't used to feature an inventory system such as CoD or Halo now have offline items/inventory systems for managing your game or character (Think loadouts and unlockables). I think the requirement for items totally depends on the angle your game is taking and it adds a new level of depth that just isnt possible without it Edit: As for items on virtual pet sites.. I LOVE items that have a "unique to this item" functionality - Think of the Wonder Zapper from IcePets
  9. This is a great analysis of the survey and I'm wondering perhaps if we could get something similar to this every few months to get a vibe for where the community currently stands? Thanks for all the hard work and effort you put into making TGL a great place! It's really positive to see the owner taking on board everything that the community says
  10. I remember as a kid, tamagotchi's were so fun and interesting! As an adult however, when I play with them they just dont scratch the same itch as they used to. Back then I didnt play pokemon, virtual pet sites, or pretty much anything like it, so it was new and interesting. There is that much available now on mobile devices etc that I just dont think they would be as popular as they used to be. However, I can imagine my kids having them.. but getting bored quickly (Kids dont know how lucky they are today compared to when we were kids! haha)
  11. Damn, you got me! There are LOADS of people I would like to nominate. It has been really hard having to decide one..... In that case, I nominate @Aminirus because she makes a conscious effort to help others, encourages conversation by taking part in different threads and conversations, and is generally an all round nice person!
  12. So thought I would post up a sneak peek at the Map Image I have put together in photoshop for the Quarry... Obviously I'm kidding - this isnt the final image. I've thrown this together as a placeholder until I find someone who can replace it haha, and thought it was worth sharing The Quarry/Mining feature is coming along really nicely, hopefully I'll get another preview up this week
  13. If there is one somewhere please can you point me in the right direction. Currently I have to go to the Game Clubs page and scroll through to find the Club I own. I appreciate there is a "My Clubs" box on the right, however I have joined many clubs and it takes some time to find my specific one each time I want to update my club.
  14. At work its a mix of Visual Studio and Notepad++ since those are the company standards. For teaching my daughter web development I'm using Dreamweaver since it really helps you along and has a simple UI. As for development of my game.. I've tried most of the offerings out there but i always fall back to PSPad. I find it the most convenient to use across PHP, javascript and HTML. Most other flavours of software normally let me down with one of those three, however PSPad feels right for all three.... and the hotkeys are ingrained on my soul haha.
  15. Can we nominate more than one person? If so, is there a limit? Also, should we give reasons why?
  16. Thanks @Hare I totally missed that button! haha! Really appreciate it!
  17. In the spirit of shamelessly keeping my game updates relevant, I figured I would bump this thread with the links to the latest update Link to the Article on our Temp Forums Link to the Article on TGL's Game Club
  18. Hi @Hare Sorry to be a pain - I'm just looking at the item links now and I cant seem to find the link to download the PSD for them? I wasnt sure if I'm looking in the right place? Do i need to be logged in on DA in order to download the PSD? Thanks
  19. I've developed the backend from scratch, however for the front end I'm using jQuery to handle communication with the server. As @halichu pointed out - for some thing there is no point re-inventing the wheel. As for the backend though, I wrote it myself purely because I wanted it to work in a particular way which just wasnt possible using things such as Laravel and CodeIgniter.
  20. Bah, fair enough . Worth a try though haha
