  1. If it's giving that error, something is spelled wrong somewhere. The script is trying to call a variable that doesn't exist. What page does this happen on? What does the code look like?
  2. The site's forum is now available at http://foodbabs.x10host.com/smf/. As stated in the previous news post, this forum is not integrated, and you will have to make a new account to post. View full news
  3. I would be interested in volunteer work too, if you need it. It would give me a feel for things.
  4. After the move, you might have noticed excessively long load times (65+ seconds in most cases). This was due to the site still trying to call from old image paths, which significantly slowed things down. I took a while to go through the database and fix every one, but I did it, the speed should be back to normal now. I'm still combing through the files to make sure that all of the old paths are updated, but let me know if there are any I missed. (links that still lead to adopttest for example) View full news
  5. It was all helpful, thanks! Now I actually need to work up the courage to make that jump lol.
  6. Do you just post straight into the section or is there a button somewhere on the game's directory page? I posted a news topic and tagged it with my site's name, but it didn't show in a purple tag like the others and isn't visible from the front page. I could barely find the edit button, so I probably missed something ^^; EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. Wow, took me a whole 2 days to see it o.o
  7. The site has successfully migrated to x10 hosting. The site is now available at foodbabs.x10host.com. Logins still work, and everyone's pets should still be there. If you made any progress after July 16 (before the move), that progress may have been lost. Unfortunately, the forum did not make the move. A new forum will be created with a better look, but it will no longer be integrated with the accounts on the main site. Thanks for everyone that stuck with us through these technical difficulties!
  8. I have some experience outside of just customizing the script, like building a new feature, though I haven't done anything like overhauls (at least not yet). I'm not skilled in CSS, but I was referring to work with HTML and PHP. I don't have several years of experience, just about 2 at this point, but I would consider myself pretty familiar for doing simple work; nothing completely major just yet. I just don't know what to expect, since I'm assuming that the internal coding would vary from site to site. Things are usually already set up for what does what unless you're helping a brand new in-dev site, so references, database calls, and all that stuff would be different. Would I be told what does what?
  9. Foodbabs is a breeding-oriented pet game that features food-based adoptables. The game is in open alpha, so many features have yet to be added. At the moment, users are able to collect babs and breed for even rarer adoptables! Visit your pets everyday to help them grow and keep them happy. Disclaimer: At the moment, bugfixes are not possible and some users may have connection issues. This will be resolved once we move to a new server. View full game
  10. Needing another source of income outside of my art, I planned on working as a coder for pet sites. The problem is I'm only familiar with working with the mysidia script, which a majority don't use. It's not vastly different to my knowledge, and uses a mix of OOP and smarty for the base. Would things be that much different? Of course, if they used another framework than I would need to familiarize myself with it, but some don't use frameworks at all and build from the ground up (I'm assuming). Would people expect me to know how it works out the box?
  11. Knowing and understanding it is the best I can do. i don't have a lawyer, nor could I afford one if the need arises. (I can barely get the money for my site alone). It is better than no TOS though, and it sets ground rules and expectations for the users without a generic rules page.
  12. I'm in need of a new host for my site, but I'm not sure which would be a good one for a virtual pet site. I can't afford expensive hosting, and can only probably pay up to $30 up front if I save up, though my site is relatively small and growing right now so I don't need a surplus of space I'm not using anyway, but I wouldn't want to run out. I realize this does greatly shorten my options, since most hosts want at least $100+ up front. I'm open to free hosting, but I would need to be able to upgrade and move without too many problems when it comes to that. The paid host also needs to be able to accept paypal, without the need for credit card information.
  13. Looks that way; I was extremely nervous that all of my files would be lost. I'm still looking for new hosting though, 2 scares like that is enough for me. EDIT: Still doesn't work for me it seems. I still can't connect after loading a few pages. Changing wifi networks worked for a second before it did the same thing :\
  14. It works if I want to only visit the forum, but it's not exactly good for developing online. I really wish we could get an answer for what's going on.
  15. I'm glad it's not just me too. I really didn't want to feel like I was bothering HoF U.U
  16. I used to draw traditional only up until about 5 years ago, since then I've been strictly digital; though I do still have my pencils and things for whenever I want them. I mainly switched since digital appears to fare better in the online market, and I can finally color my pictures through the magic of layers. I used to never color my pictures because I was afraid of messing up the sketch lol.
  17. I basically went around and looked at a bunch of TOS on adoptable sites and typed up my own based on that. In case it helps, I turned mine into template form: Feel free to use and edit as you see fit.
  18. I don't the whole server is down, since I am able to connect with my phone's mobile data at odd hours, but it's just really spotty and unresponsive. It's only been recently.
  19. Stats have been completed! Pets obtained from the shops or promocodes will have all of their stats at 10 by default. Now you can breed for higher stats! That stuff will be important once contests roll around. Some users got lucky with the old system (which chose a random number between 10 and 100) and have high stats already. All new pets are no longer generated this way and follow the new system. --- 7/14/17 News: Development is on indefinite hiatus until we can move to a new host, due to my inability to connect to the server.
  20. Is anyone else having problems with this? I haven't been able to properly connect to the site in 2 weeks (or any other site on the server, including the help forum and my own); though I'm about to try sending HoF an email. EDIT: I managed to update my thread over on the help forum. Hopefully something can get cleared up.
  21. That took me waaay too long to realize I posted my update in the wrong place
  22. A Privacy Policy and Terms of Use has been added to the site.
  23. The forum style has reverted to default. This is because the "square" theme had issues with the bbcode editor not displaying properly. You still have the option to switch themes from the UserCP. Profiles and index news should now display correctly on the classic theme. Clicking on the explore page without a favorite/active pet should no longer throw an error Latest replies should now properly show up in the forum index. Pet sorting has temporarily been removed. As a result, pets should no longer be missing from the pantry.
  24. "Sssurfs up human! Ready to catch ssssome rayss?" The summer shop has opened with 3 new adopts! The sharkermelon, dolphana, and the harrot! (To make up for the missed spring) All 3 adoptables were suggested in the survey, but neither are native to just one part of the world nor do they have a specific origin point (Like how lions live in africa). However, the ideas were too good to pass up, so they get a place in the summer shop instead of region-specific shops. Festival rotation is automatic now, so don't expect to see the summer shop open once the summer is over!
  25. -Info- I mainly do animal/creature art. This includes adoptables and illustrations that pretty up the site. This does not include humans because I have zero skill at drawing such. Buildings and furniture don't go well for me either; so I can't draw shop interiors or anything. If your website has a particular style you want kept, then I will try my best to mimic it. If you're interested in commissioning me, either send me a PM, DM me through Discord (Dinocanid#6171), or send me and email at [email protected]. -Illustration Examples- -Item Examples- -Pet Examples- -Policy- If you would like to see what I can do before hiring, I am capable of providing a sketch (no color or shading, just a rough sketch). After hiring, I usually check back during the art process and am open to suggestion/feedback to ensure that you are satisfied with the final result. Every month is counted as 30 days. I draw relatively fast and, depending on the complexity and detail, can finish a piece in 2-3 days, give or take a day. (If really simple, I can sometimes finish the same day) If requested, I can provide an art stream (via picarto.tv) if you wish to watch me draw live and give immediate feedback. This comes with no extra cost. No refunds will be given; this is partially because PayPal takes tax between transactions (You wouldn't receive the full amount back and extra would come out of my account). You are expected to pay through the PayPal.me link given upon ordering. Please do not claim any artwork I provide as your own work. -Pricing- Below is a list of base prices. If needed, I can work out deals/haggle through PM to meet your specific needs. Pet lineart: $10 per image (so a set including baby, teen, and adult lineart would be $30) $5 for shading $5 extra for any more than 3 colors/patterns Items: $3 per image Environment/Background: $20
