  1. I built this new color pallete for my website using the Level 3 RGB pattern. The pallete I had to work with consist of only 27 color options of which there is only 5 dark colors and 12 light ones which are usual by users with color deficiencies. The two darks I used are first red(800000) and first blue(000080). The two lights I used are second green first blue(00ff80), first red mixed with cyan (80ffff). I don't know how good these color combinations are for a petsite but the other colors I had to choose from were too shiny. I wanted to create sort of a calming interface. I don't know if this is the correct style to use but my color choices are kind of limited to just greens and blues with exceptions of 2 yellows and 1 red as well as white. I'd like the communities advice on this before deciding on a particular color pattern to use for my websites default. I may give users the option latter to change the color pattern to something else if they so desire as long as the color pattern is see able by users with poor color sight. Any advice?
  2. Oh Nalkaria yey. She has finally returned. I am so happy to see her. *wags my tail*
  3. @N_E_Wunn: What about violence on tv shows and news shows? Do these cause children to be more violent?
  4. @Nate: When it is called it looks through the list and calls the show page for example in the helper method which then calls the show view page. @Hare: I think I need to add a bit more code.
  5. When a guest tries to navigate to the blog page of a group they are presented with this screen: However when a normal user logs in they can see it perfectly well. I think its just a bug with TGL system when dealing with non logged in users. This happens for users who view blogs on a group. Any ideas how to fix it?
  6. @Digital: As to the way I plan to structure my items I have to see. I think it be better to have food items and healing items kind of combined so that way if a pet eats one or the other it gets the benefit of having both its hp restored and hunger healed. What I have in mind for items is that they won't be sold in any shop. The only shops that will exist in the world will be just raffles and mystery boxes which contain random prizes. Inventory will be expanded into two sections. Normal inventory handles typical items and Mystery pouch handles all mystery boxes and sacks. Each item will come with its own count down timer that once it hits zero it will be removed from the user's inventory. In the case of the user having multiple the qty will be decreased by one. This way all items will at some point in time be removed from the system. This also includes multi use items such as swords, shields, and even toys.
  7. @Hare: Now this code right down here is the pm controller of my website. The controller in this setup acts as a type of switch. Each one only utilizes one line of code per action. @Digital: So that is what it does.
  8. @Aminirus: I am still learning as well but it certainly does help though. @Digital: Sorry about that digital. I moved everything now into the ad blog entry sections and emptyed out the updates section it only describes what the section is about. Everything other then updates and the add blog entries can be removed.
  9. @Digital: I moved everything into the updates blog but I am guessing I did it wrong again.
  10. @Digital: I am still trying to move things over. How do I delete old blogs from my group?
  11. @Hare: Well for someone who is not much of a programmer this is pretty interesting though. Does isset mean check to see if edit is being used and if so edit the name, the sales, the stud point, and is notes a fancy way of saying description? Say hare is it okay for me to show off some of my code? If so which would you like to see first ruby on rails or C++?
  12. I created a couple of blogs for my group but am uncertain if I did them correctly. Can anyone please check?
  13. @Digital: Most of these type of npc features are a bit down the road.
  14. @runeowl: Thanks, as of now everything is working correctly though.
  15. @Nate: I think the battle system would have to be made tougher or pets would have to cost more. I am guessing the amount of points you normally get from things such as blogs and artwork maybe reduced as well. On top of that I am considering adding a life system with extra lives and a potential maximum age your character can live for before you have to start all over again. On top that each inhabitent has different lives and different max ages. @Digital: Actually technically most part no except for Simcity 2000 network edition. However in Simcity 2000 network edition you get to choose the difficulty setting in terms of easy medium and hard level. Hard level interestingly enough has a 10k bond in actual multiplayer scenario. @Tmra: Once the user pays off the debt they have they then must pay off their loan as well. The loan will take an interest amount out of the users points either per minute or per hour unless they don't have sufficient points to pay the interest. The interest will continue to be paid for until the maximum loan has been repaid. Once they have done so they can then perform other purchases but they start a bit behind other users. I don't really have an achievenment system built in as of yet. My main point of things is I kind of want to avoid ingame only items for user x over user y as it has tendancy to favor one over the other. All items have a decay rate which can be 1 or higher. Once an items decay rate reaches 0 it is removed from the system. This way items don't last forever. Equipment also decays overtime. Each time a piece of equipment helps you successfully avoid an attack that item decays. Each time you make a hit with a sword the sword decays. Same thing goes with armor as well. @Digital: I haven't thought of what rewards the users will get for play modes as of yet. @Nate: I think I have a lot to think of in designing this.
  16. @runeowl: I made it as a test dummy account to test my site, but it kind of blew up in my face.
  17. @Digital: That probably might have been what happened.
  18. @Digital: I have started to add a couple of blogs and am trying to keep the dates in order. This is certainly better than the virtual petlist system. I think it keeps things a bit cleaner. I think I will need some help as to how to introduce my site without going into every single detail of the site. Its a bit of a slow process converting things over.
  19. @Digital: I was thinking maybe something like pokemon collesuem, final fantasy 1 nes and a couple of other games. Heroes 3 complete maybe.
  20. @Digital: I don't really know but I fixed a bunch of issues, but I am still unsure as to the cause of it as most of the code appeared pretty normal. All I can some it up to is that Mary Sue is just a glitch or some kind of god creature that doesn't like being used much.
  21. After 5 months of nonstop coding I have decided that now is the time for me to stop coding as I am officially burned out from it. I will be on a two month hiatus from it as I spend some more quality time with drawing art, writing stories, and playing a couple of video games which I have been kind of neglecting. I am kind of glad I got the blog, pm, registration and stats things working well but it was very tiring. So yeah that is all I have to say for now. Bolt Greywing
  22. So during the building process of my website features I decided on using mary sue as a test user. When I used it only my private messaging outbox worked and my private message inbox system was completely broken. Every other feature worked just fine only that one didn't. So guys whatever you do for your website building process or when my site is officially deployed please don't use Mary Sue or msue combinations as my site is extremely temperamental towards that user account. So that is kind of a thing.
  23. Well I just created my very first group. New updates to this group are Blogging, Private Messaging, Registration, and an improved stats page. I'd like a bit of advice as to how well I did with it. I tried to be as specific with economy as I could but I think I kind of went overboard. I don't know if it make sense for me to post all the updates in multiple blogs as to me that feels kind of lazy. I try to maintain a 1 blog per website update section meaning all updates show up only in the update section.
  24. @kami: I am going to start off with the currency first and move on to making events more frequent. One of my keys is trying to determine the correct point values and that will require lots of planning. @Digital: The mode is usually set at the start and will only be allowed to change once either the player dies of old age in the game or is killed by some kind of animal. Or doesn't pay back their loans. Actually I am thinking of hindering all players ability at the beginning to make it more difficult. I haven't really consider the issue that much as most of this idea is stemming from an ancient game called SimCity 2000.
  25. I decided to try my hand at having a difficulty setting for my petsite. Easy difficulty the user starts off with x amount of points (200 maybe) Limited to y amount of players. Medium difficulty user starts with no points. Hard difficulty user starts with -3000 points in debt and has a 5000 point loan that he needs to pay back. Limited to z amount of players. A hidden mode may be developed at a later time period. This is a bit of a wip. So what do you guys think about it?
