  1. The details on those shampoo bottles are amazing! <3
  2. I think so too ^____^

  4. @Cybura Oh thanks! I didn't know if that was a glitch or if my computer was just being dumb so I was just going to try again later EDIT: I registered and it didn't redirect me anywhere, but when I went back to the homepage I was logged in. So that works
  5. @Boltgreywing Oh good! Definitely keep us posted; I'd love to check out the other color options when you have them available
  6. I really like those human avatar characters! Usually games make the characters look too flat or rigid, but those look very nice
  7. @Boltgreywing Oh I see. I'm just afraid that unimpaired users might not stick around long enough to find out that there even is an option for different colors. You could potentially make a button that visually impaired player COULD see in order to change their color options? I know that you first and foremost want to design for a specific group of people and I think that's brilliant, but again I'm just afraid that most people would be turned off by the high-contrasting colors (psychology of colors and all that).
  8. I agree with @Hare; I think different color options would be the best way to go. Most of your users will probably not be colorblind, so when they log in and see a color pallet that is specifically designed for colorblind people, they may be turned off. @Boltgreywing Is there a reason you are making the color scheme specifically for colorblind users? Have you considered making the colors something easy on the eyes, but then having a button where the users can pick their own color schemes? I only suggest that because if you were to have such loud contrasting colors as your default, it may deter users from playing your game. That's why sites like Facebook use calming colors such as light blue; the psychology of colors makes it so that the user feels the need to stick around longer. But if you have the contrasting blues that you had, the user might think you just didn't know a lot about design (i.e. I didn't realize you were designing for colorblindness until I read more of the thread).
  9. I wonder if the new owner will be able to pay in monthly chunks or if the whole sum needs to be transferred over at once?
  10. @Cybura @Niabi I do not think it was @Navy's intention to spread drama or anything of the sort to this thread, but to simply provide a discussion about the current going-ons of a game. If anyone used the word "drama", even, it was me; and even then, it was not used as a way to attack any staff members but as a way to describe the situation. All @Navy did was post screenshots of something that was unfolding, which was something that would have been read once users had checked out the site itself. I do hope the situation with the site gets resolved
  11. @runeowl Ahh....I see. It was very trusting of Slash to sign something over like that without being able to see revenue. I really hope that gets worked out. @Navy Thanks!
  12. Wulves (www.wulves.com) is another one! I had completely forgotten about this one. I had bought an alpha membership when the game first came out, and unfortunately I don't think the game has been worked on much recently. Which is a shame, because you can tell there was a LOT of time put into the artwork.
  13. Gorgeous art! I especially love that hedgehog pet!!!! <3 What I'm looking for in a pet game is something to keep me occupied and having a goal to work towards. There are so many games out there where all you do is go on the site, feed your pets, and maybe battle around a bit. (I'm happy to hear you won't have the pet feeding addition in your game). I want to be working towards getting a new exclusive pet, or getting my pet to a certain level to gain a specific achievement, or having dailies that don't make me feel that I HAVE to come back to the site. Neopets had the avatar collection to work towards and that was very rewarding, but I don't see many sites doing anything like that anymore. Even if it's just something as simple as destroy 100 items of garbage to get an achievement that I can show off to everybody, I would keep coming back to play.
  14. Wow...:(. I feel so sorry for the other staff members, they had no idea what was going on this entire time Who is the owner of Felisfire? Or is it a joint ownership? Keep us posted on the developments, @Navy!
  15. Uggghhhh I've been so bad about this >_____< I've been feeding my dragons on Flight Rising but that's about it. I'll have to check out some other sites everyone has been playing.
  16. @PaulSonny Awesome, I'll check it out!
  17. Thanks for that update, @Martyn! I haven't played Clanheart before, but the art looks really nice and I hope they can get the hype back up
  18. 6/8/17 Neopets Did some dailies, got quite a big chunk from the stock market 6/9/17 Flight Rising Fed all my dragons (poor things, they hadn't been fed in months), caught up on the news and did some battling. Neopets Some more dailies. Still trying to find something more fun to do on there.
  19. Same as PaulSonny haha; I got pretty far before realizing I couldn't die With the right art and additions I think it definitely has potential to be a finished mini game (I'm assuming for your RPG?)
  20. It's kind of in the middle ground for me right now. There are moments when I'm so demotivated that I just sit there and stare at the screen. And then I try to push myself by posting about the game; this scares me into working because I feel like that way people are expecting a result. Thank you so much
  21. This took me back! I do have a suggestion though--is it possible to add a pause button? I was playing the game and had to get up twice for work and unfortunately had to forfeit my score
  22. Honestly? Fear. Fear that it won't be good enough, fear that the audience won't respond well to it. Fear that after all the work I put into it, it would seem like it was for nothing.
  23. Matt Thompson is the creator of a Steam game called "In the Dark" that has just been Greenlit! (Check out the game here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=912663128) 1. Can you tell us a little bit about the game? The most basic premise of this game is a horror story told from the point of view of a blind character. The main character, who's real name is never revealed, wakes up at the beginning of the game after having suffered from a severe concussion, destroying his sight, as well as muddling his memories. Meanwhile, a young girl by the name Ester helps to lead him through the world, avoiding monsters and horrid set on killing the player. The game's plot deals with themes or perception versus reality, guilt and forgiveness, and percussion. The game play has been described by a few as link to the past style game play with a horror feel. The game forces you to discover the map by "feeling" around a blank map, revealing objects as you come across them. A few objects are revealed by their sounds, while others are revealed by Ester pointing them out. Using the information, the player must piece together enough of the map to survive. 2. Your game got successfully funded on Kickstarter. Are there any suggestions you can give for a successful Kickstarter? The vast majority of backers were people I personally contacted, friends and family who wanted to help me succeed. It actually wasn't until my Kickstarter made its goal that I saw a significant number of people I didn't know contribute. However, "have nice friends who are willing to give you money" is not something that is easily changed in time for a Kickstarter run, so make sure you are contacting and networking long in advance. 3. How long did you work on the game? This game was first conceived 4 years ago, when I first learned the basics of game design. Unfortunately I did not have the skill set at the time to finish the game, so it went in the wayside for a few years until last Fall, when I went back to working on it full force. I have been working on it ever since, with people coming in and out to help as needed. 4. How big was your team? Our team has been entirely comprised of freelancers or one-time contractors. At its smallest, the team was just myself in my room for several weeks. At the busiest point, I had 5 other people working on different aspects of the game at a time. 5. What was your role in the project? I have been acting as head of development, which for a large part meant I was doing everything, from programming, to composing music, to writing the script, to marketing and advertising. Some of the roles I have given to others, mostly art, voice acting, and marketing related fields where I do not have any training or experience. Everything else has been my work. 6. If you could go back and give yourself advice on creating this game, what would it be? The biggest advice I would give myself I'm not sure if I should be saying on here, because it involves financial planning mistakes I made fairly early on. I will say, for those wanting to start at a game, make sure you have everything planned out, and know everyone you are expecting to work with 7. When is your game going to be released? Our game is expecting to be released July 31st of this year. Check out the game below: Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=912663128 Blog: https://inthedark.blog/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/InTheDarkTheGame
  24. Great, thanks! I'll have to fiddle around with it more then. For the life of me I can't find the "Hide" option Oh wow, really? It's not a big deal, I was just trying to see if there was
