Trying to remember a pet site active in the mid/late 2000s

Hey. I've been desperately trying to remember the name of a unique pet site that was active in the mid to late 2000s and I unfortunately have very little solid info about it, but hopefully what I do remember is enough for someone!

The stuff I do remember for sure: It had small pet images (I want to say about 50 x 50px) and you could submit custom pets. The art style was very simplistic, almost programmer art quality. It had gameplay different from most pet sites, nothing like Neopets and offshoots of that. No painting pets or anything. No flash games or anything fancy like that.

The stuff I am less certain of and may be mixing up with other pet sites or remembering incorrectly: I think the custom pet images were displayed in a big gallery crediting each image. They might've cost like $1 to submit or something similarly cheap or been site currency. The URL may have been a subdomain or something, I don't remember it having a dedicated domain, and I remember having difficulty remembering the address even when I actively played so it might've been something unusual. I think it was created by a single individual as a side project or something, and may have been hosted on their personal website as a result. I think a lot of the gameplay was largely text-based.

I played it fairly extensively somewhere within 2005-2007 (a friend I had for only that long had introduced me to it) but I remember that I never got into the community for it and I couldn't remember what it was called even within a few years of playing so I never went back to it. It stuck with me, though, even if I can't remember the details very well (typical for me tbh), and I'd love to be able to look up more info on it and refresh my memories of it.

Sounds like you're referring to a site similar to Terrepets.

Hey, thanks so much! I hadn't heard of Terrepets, but what I was talking about is the site it was based on that's mentioned on the page there, PsyPets! I'm super pumped to see a game inspired by it, and, after looking, to see that not only is PsyPets still actually online (and I even found in the copyright info an image I submitted as a teen!), but the original creator runs a newer site called Poppy Seed Pets now that looks like something I'll really enjoy.

I'm really glad my memory was coherent enough to produce a result, I really didn't think it was one anyone would remember or at least not from my poor memory, which was definitely not 100% accurate.

I'm glad I could help even a little! ^^ I wasn't around when Psypets peaked since it was a bit before my time, so I had only heard of it through Terrepets. :'D
