I think Subeta is a perfect example. The pets are definitely one of the least important things, as is the game play. The BIGGEST aspects to the site are the human avatar system and the forums, but people still call Subeta a pet site. Neopets does allow for some balance though, which is true, as Syntax mentioned, it depends on the user. But for quite a few sites, it seems like incorporating more things and uses for the pets is either not planned or on the back burner. Not necessarily a bad thing though, again, just calling those kinds of games "pet" is silly.

It seems silly to call a game a "pet" site if there is basically no point to the pets. If you want to make a game centered around something else, go for it, but calling it a "pet" site seems silly in that case.

In my experience with VPL and another forum that did a posting contest, the majority of the content produced in the duration of the contest was junk. I'd be wary of them. Though doing it often might drown out the junk over time since people know they have other chances, it might level things out? Or it could just keep producing junk as people keep fighting for it. It could go either way. Perhaps particular ground rules? Like the idea of posting guides and encouraging that for more points for this one I'd say is a step in the right direction and could work out better in the long term.

They're all still there, and I'm sure the videos/pages will be around for a while after as well. Plenty of time to catch up after work ^^ Really? April Fools is one of my favs, if I had a game, I'd definitely take advantage of it! I'm glad at least FR did something. Looks like I'll have to log back in to check it out

I wrote a book :'D Haha. Here's a snippet from it. Currently working on my second novel, but nothing worthwhile to share for it yet. This is an older short of mine about a pair surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. It has some flaws, but the perspective was a fun one to write in I'm still generally pleased with it.
