  1. Bump! Still looking for someone! Lots of individual projects, so the job could be as big or small as you have time for.
  2. I make a living from my game, HP! I opened it 8 years ago with absolutely no experience and no idea what I was doing, but it was successful almost immediately, and that's what I've done since then. It has definitely a learning experience over the years, haha. It's a full time job managing the community and the game in general. I don't track my hours, though. I'd say I probably work 30 hours a week actively sitting at a computer, but I am on-call to mods and admins every hour of every day but Sunday, so it amounts to more. I have a degree in culinary arts/hospitality, so I am working far from my "field", but I started going to culinary school to get out of those house. I never really intended for it to replace the game.
  3. Thanks! The industry has definitely been good to me over the years :).
  4. I've actually been having the same issue as this, I've been denied twice for "insufficient content" on HP because you can't provide login details until AFTER you've been accepted. We have our forum (with over 5 years worth of topics and posts on it) and our help pages open to the public, and still denied. I'm kind of at a loss for what else to do, but I've thought about making animal pages open to the public. I know lots of games use adsense, so I know it's possible, I'm just not sure how they got approved. I would love to know how you do it, if you get accepted! And I'll do the same if I do, haha. Sorry for kind of hijack your topic, haha. But I figured since it was the exact same issue, I'd add here rather than make a new one :P.
  5. I'm looking for someone to do a few new features and bug fixes on HP (http://horsephenomena.com). I don't want to get too in-detail on the forum, but we have a bug with our achievement awarding system/nightly cron which needs to be fixed, and I have a new awards system I'd like to put in place for animals. If it goes well, and you're interested, I also have some other projects lined up after these are done :). HP is programmed in PHP/MySQL. I'm looking for someone who is experienced in these languages (and preferably with browser game programming). I'm willing to pay by the script or by the hour, however, I would prefer to pay by the script until I'm more familiar with your work! I do require a signed contract with specified price, timeline, and NDA agreement for both of our protection. If you're interested, please contact me here via PM with examples of your work and references, and we can discuss the project further :). Thanks! -Sam
  6. You should! It's great! :). I use a Moleskine dotted notebook and I'm really happy with it.
  7. My main way of staying organized is my planner, which is loosely a bullet journal, but basically it's a hand drawn planner and I have specific short-hand designation for events, appointments, tasks, notes, and completed tasks and moved tasks. Which helps me to stay organized on a day-to-day basis. I could take a picture of it later, but there are also lots of examples online :). I do 1 week for each two page spread, and I have a section for each day, and then a large notes section for random stuff. I also have a dry-erase calendar which I keep track of appointments and events on for the entire month, a dry erase board which I mostly keep a shopping list on, but also anything I need to remember, and I always have a document open on my computer with things I need to do/remember, but don't need to do RIGHT NOW. So basically I use the dry-erase calendar and the document to plan out my week in my planner :). And if all else fails and I absolutely cannot forget something, I tell like 10 people to please remind me and send me a text so I remember.
  8. I am! I currently own Horse Phenomena (http://horsephenomena.com), which is active and open and nearing it's 8th birthday! I also own Animal Phenomena (http://animalphenomena.com), which is technically open, but kind of on hiatus. It's got some design flaws that I want to work out before I actually go for a big open. And I've been working on Equicana/Horse Phenomena: Evolutions, which will be similar to HP in concept but feature realistic genetics, more showing, more art, etc. Then in the past I've owned Horse Mogul, which was sold. Kitten Tracks, which is currently closed, but maybe not forever. And The Nine Worlds, which was a partnership, and was sold.
  9. Hello everyone! Figured I'd introduce myself! :). I do see some familiar names from other forums, where I've always just gone by Sam! I own Horse Phenomena (http://horsephenomena.com/), which is a classic-style horse and dog sim, and have a couple of other projects in development. I've been making a living with HP for 8 years now :). I've owned a couple of other games in the past which I have either sold, or put on hiatus. I'm currently working on improving my programming skills, and just working on HP as always! Other than that, I'm from Omaha, NE and I like playing games and reading and cooking. I've got most of a culinary arts/hospitality degree, which is a huge deviation from my actual job, but that's just how it goes sometimes, haha. Anyway, it's nice to be here! :).
