What got you interested in creating your own game, versus just playing them? What about game development excites or motivates you? I have always been interested in how things worked, even as a younger kid. When I got my hand on computers, I couldn't help myself but wonder how they worked. Not so much how mechanically they worked, but how the OS worked, or how the the Internet worked (it was the age of dialup). I quickly started to absorb programming and internally how things worked. Then I got an Xbox, then I got even more interested in specifically how a game worked, since it was different! The rest is history. So... Whats your story?

Not everyone watches TV, so this can include YouTube series or Podcasts as well, but what regular series of TV/YT/Podcasts do you watch on a regular basis? I don't really catch too much these days, but I used to be a regular watcher of Game of Thrones, and also enjoyed Marco Polo on Netflix as a series.

See something funny on youtube, read something that caught you unaware. A pet do something goofy? What got you to lose that cool calm exterior and laugh out loud randomly? Mine would be the night before last, where I went to bed only to find a face-full of baby hair. My infant son (who sleeps with us as he is fighting a cold and is not interested in a crib) decided to sleep with his head on my pillow. Or rather, take my pillow over. I couldn't help but laugh, because it was actually cute.

So as I am starting new discussions to get more posting going (those Egg's need to hatch ya know), I wanted to make sure the discussions were better then just simple questions, and required some thought. So here we go: What really annoys you but happens often? For me, it has to be the very simple fact that my four pups, who I love dearly, cannot keep their cool when anyone comes within 1/2 a block of our house - regardless of whether the individual (young, old, infant, or possibly even ghosts) is visible. It is like they have a drone flying overhead and are watching it live. This annoys me, not because they are doing what dogs do, but because I work from home and they do relatively regularly when they are inside. Pets, gotta love em!

In the Adoptable's system we have the ability to support a unlimited depth tree of evolution in the pets forms, anyone interested in how this type of system is used or implemented?

What was the last story/blurb you wrote in terms of creative writing or game development did you write? I will lead with the descriptions you guys see on the Adoptables, with this one being my personal favorite: This is the description for one of the Lizardly Dragon forms. As I was writing it, I was in my mind imagining this spiky lizards tail sticking out of a backpack as random boring items are being tossed out, and random hissing and scratching are going on.

I am trying to compile a current list of pet sites that are out in the wild, both to reach out to, as well as to prepare to setup for reviewing here. I am hoping to get some help from you guys as you guys know where some are that I might not know about. If you happen to know of any, please let me know: This is for sites that currently allow user registrations and playing. Even if the site is in beta or being developed, if a user can register and play it can go here. Thanks! I am as well, looking to see about trying to get my wife out to see it. I have heard it was good, and that they did a great job at keeping it close to the original, which is always a good thing!

Forum Adoptables are LIVE Introducing: and Lizardly Dragon's and Corgicock's to the Adoptables Much thanks to @Hare for her work on them, they turned out amazing! First of all I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for your feedback and support during the development of it. Without your support, input, and encouragement this system would not be here today. So Thank You! To get started, go buy your first Adoptable: You will find the eggs for these two in the store. Once purchased (they are free, so I use the term purchased since you will still go through the process of checking out - but no personal information will be asked for free items) they will appear in your Profile under the Adoptables tab. Make sure to set your Egg to active to start giving it Power. You will be able to rename your Adoptable on it's first evolution. Current ways to get power are through gaining reputation (2 points of power), and posting (1 point of power). These values may change over time, as well as other ways to gain Power (voting on polls, writing reviews, etc.) Backdrops Backdrops will be put in a little later, as I have to actually create some Reporting issues: There is now a thread in the Forum Adoptables subforum for reporting bugs, or you can PM me directly if you stumble upon them. I am sure you will. I tried to test this out as much as possible, but its entire development fit into a week of vacation. What's Next We are just getting started, we have more Adoptables coming, more ways to get them outside of the Store, and more goodies to use with them. There will also be a lot of improvements coming to the system overall, such as notifications on when an Adoptable can evolve and much more.

Maintenance is complete, I actually did not have to take down the site, as the Adoptables went in flawlessly.

Just a small short heads up that we might be closed for maintenance tomorrow morning to install Adoptables. I plan to start the process at about 8:30AM my time, which is currently PDT.

Oh, very cool. We have a similar one coming up here in one of our local desert valleys called Coachella.

Just post any recent movies you have seen, say within the last three months or so, and what you thought of them. Most recent (because with a 10 month old, getting out has been limited), was Rogue One. Good movie, sad but necessary ending.

Pre-Release Update So we are on the eve of this thing getting rolled out, and I am getting excited, are you guys? Most of today was on the admin cp, and permissions setup and such, so not much to show, but got a few goodies in line to show. Adoptables can now be reported for bad content More of a moderation feature, if you run across anything awful on a pet's page, you can now report it to the moderators for review. Pasting in a Pet's page url into the editor will embed a nice little box showing it off Some of you might have noticed when linking to another thread or topic here on the boards that you will get a nice little embedded blurb instead of just a link. Now that works for Adoptables too. Those are what I have today, I know it is not much, but as I mentioned today has been a lot of clean up and backend work. I actually was able to get rid of an entire table that turned out to be completely useless and implement a much better route in my process of adding in some administration panel ui for the pet types. Good stuff.

It is possible to add this as a setting - I will add to the suggestions thread to keep track of it. I can see where some users will like it, and others will not. Since I plan to expand the leaderboard with pet related information, pets who are not rated will not appear, which is okay if their owners choose not to be.

I like this one, and was on the roadmap. Also really like as it fosters participation. I wonder though for users like @N_E_Wunn if it would actually be a detriment since he really into the idea of playing the Adoptable game? We would have to consider alternative ways to enter the giveaways or means to get the codes. I will have to do research on this, but some of this already exists as part of the Store, we already have promotional codes which can offer discounts or free items. It also would not be hard to create a redemption system to redeem codes for pets that might be retired or no longer available. The Store already features a code generator that would work for code generation for this purpose.
