  1. Hi all!

So I'm bumping this very old thread of mine (oh how times have changed!)

I'm looking for work - I'm a software developer by day and I'm interested in anything from part time / bug fixing type of roles to more long term feature development and progression.

Experience with PHP, mySQL, JS/jQuery, HTML, CSS including responsive design UI/UX and no code platforms. Experience with Angular and React also as well as various types of API workflows and authentication methods. Limited experience in mobile first / Android development also.

    Thanks!

@Vivi The position was opened for more availability!

Bumping thread as site environment is currently up and running, still seeking to fill these positions!

    Hi!

I'm interested from a back end / general developer level - currently I'm a full time software developer.

I don't believe I have used CodeIgniter before but I have worked with Vue.js/Angular and generally PHP and use JS, HTML, CSS, APIs and Node apps generally in my day-to-day life. As well as generally Android development and debugging but I appreciate that most of those are unrelated. 😊

Also happy to consider any framework migrations or upgrading the framework process, as I have general experience with project migration and upgrading from a software perspective.

Feel free to reach out and let me know,

    Thanks!

  3. Hope everything is okay with you Aminirus. Your situation sounds so scary and there are multiple frustrations there and I can't imagine being in that situation.

I'm over in the UK and in terms of the working environment I am able to work from home and my mum and brother are just completely home from work and are furloughed. Unfortunately one of my family members has passed away from COVID-19, which was a shock. The funeral is probably going to be at least a month away, but we have started keeping in touch now with more distant family so, it's a strange world right now.

I'm the same in that I have two chronic conditions which I believe would make me be classed as being at risk (Asthma and hEDS). Both my parents have conditions which would probably put them in the risk bracket, I'd originally been planning to travel to America at the end of June until halfway through July but this is putting a real strain on me wanting to even board the plane.

    Stay safe!

I actually have asthma, chronic fatigue syndrome and Hypermobility Syndrome so I can understand where you are coming from. My sister has hEDS though. Apart from that it's high blood pressure and diabetes predominantly with my brother and mum.

At the end of the day do what is best for you and your health.

Sorry to hear that. My partner does too. We have supplies so we won't have to go to crowded areas like stores for awhile, but we're still a bit worried. We have two cases within 20 minutes of us right now in the US and it seems like it's shaping up to be very contagious. Best of luck to you, I hope you and your family don't get sick!

Thank you, all the best to you and your family too.

@Tmra Ugh, I am so sorry you are at risk and this is probably quite scary for you and your family! Do you have to do any special prep or activities to keep yourself extra protected?

@SilverBrick Actually, it IS only the infected who should wear masks, especially with a shortage. If you're curious to learn more I can link you to some information! Keep some on hand in case you do get sick and need to go out, but using a mask just to have it on won't help. ;( If you end up moving over to your hometown during this, wish you the best of luck!

I've stockpiled long life food, some hand sanitizers (alcohol hand gel and hand wash), gloves, etc.

Basically even if this eases up I won't need to buy anything imported for a few months and can just live off the freezer and cupboard. I also have a few extra inhalers kicking about just in case my health gets worse.

  6. I wasn't worried but the school my mum works for, two of their partner schools (that they see a few times a week), one is confirmed and the one is being tested.

Me, my mum and brother all have underlying medical conditions that designate us 'at risk'.

    This is in the UK.

  7. I'm interested in helping out but a bit of a newbie in terms of that I haven't done game development before.

I don't mind signing an NDA and looking at what the code is built from, then ideally you might find a better suit?

  8. So, I haven't worked in this field before but I'm interested in it and helping out others if possible (at a discount)?

I've been at my current front end development job for about a year and a half now.

    I know / use daily:

    HTML / CSS

    JavaScript, jQuery

    Angular

Node.js / Express (endpoints, API integrations, authentication workflows, etc).

Dabbled a bit with mySQL and Firebase also.

I'll be studying React next year for personal progression.

If there is something you need doing or are interested in then hopefully we can set up a chat and go through requirements and the framework you're using.

    Thanks.

  9. Hi,

Just a question that ive been wondering recently as im teaching myself Front End Web Design.

For pet sites / web and text based online rpgs, it seems they are predominantly coded in PHP.

Do you code it solely in PHP (ignoring the DB element) or do you incorporate frameworks?

Edit : Found a few of you use/d Laravel; so, do you find following a framework either or does it have its own set of problems?

    Thank you!

  10. My schedule this week is unfortunately lots of work, and maybe just some leisurely activities after hours.

Our examination officer is off work, she's broken her foot and we are in the midst of GCSE and ALevels. She probably won't be back until August/September. So I'm taking over basically everything to do with examinations as well as juggling my own job on top of that (data analysis, student reports, etc).

We also had the exam inspector in yesterday, he only comes once a year and I was definitely not feeling that happy yesterday as we had a full year group for English yesterday morning (about 120 students to juggle).
