Photobucket Update: $400 To Restore Broken Links

I'd be surprised if people actually spent that amount of money for an image hosting website when there are so many free alternatives. I've used Photobucket for many years; even some of my first VPS stuff is on there. It's quite unfortunate that they're going this route... I'd think it would lead to less people using it, therefore less ad revenue etc.

 
Not sure how, because I certainly haven't paid them anything, but my photobucket seems to work ?

Still, going to spend this weekend downloading everything as there is a lot of history I have on there and no where else.

 
Google drive is incredibly affordable and the free account gives you lots of storage, i think its like 1GB. Upgrading is only $1.99 a month and gives you close to 1TB. You can also use digital ocean for several GB on their cheapest cloud server is only $5 a month. 

 
I refused to use Photobucket cause of how their site felt, it didn't feel like it was made for the consumer to enjoy freely.
At least this now confirms my worst fears that it was going that way, I prefer Imgur for image hosting anyway.

 
I was super bummed when Tinypic closed down. Photobucket was an alternative; (I used to use it back when I was 11)... but I am not willing to pay that amount of money to upload images, and idk who would either tbh.

 
This is old news, the $400 pricing didn't stick. Their current plans seem to be from $5-13 a month which isn't anywhere near $400. Plus they do allow some access for free again with blurring and watermarks if you go over that limit (but not broken).

Not saying it's great, there are a lot of cheap and free alternatives out there anyway, but still very different than the 400 with broken images that was happening before.

I'm honestly surprised that Photobucket have managed to stay afloat after this entire fiasco.
I mean it's great that they lowered the price but the fact that they thought they could charge that to their customers for something which should not be classed as a luxury just shows what of company they've become in recent years.
