What are your tactics for social media?

Hey, all! I am working on my social media tactics. I'm looking to exchange ideas on getting more attention! 

Here are things I have done:

• I have a dedicated Facebook and Twitter account
  
• I post images of pets along with an animal fact (since my site is based on non-fiction creatures)
  
• On Twitter: I will look up related words and "like" posts. I won't necessarily follow that person, though. Should I?
  
• I use hashtags on twitter.
  

Anyone else have any input?
