Coming from an artist, if you pay upfront anything I send you whether its sketches, half-finished pieces, etc then its your property as soon as I send it to you. Sorry to hear that this has happened to you, its not on really. 

It's been a while, but I've been trying to improve my storytelling, design and rendering skills. Somedays I feel like I get it, other days I feel like a mess but hey ho! 

A work colleague actually told me to use CodeAcademy to learn Python and other languages, not just HTML and CSS. I would recommend learning whatever code that you will be using in your game, as that would be the logical choice to me, but perhaps there is something easier to learn that lets you...
