The future of Novilar!

Hello fellow Novilarians (or Novians, or Novilians…?), today marks a large announcement, both for Novilar as it is today, and the Novilar of tomorrow.

One thing that this game is not, is being truly mobile friendly. A lot of our player base surprisingly use mobile devices., and this game should feel good on mobile devices.

That said, Novilar is going to be through a phase of becoming a mobile-first game. *This means it will be readily available on mobile app stores, playable by a larger audience then ever before!* It will always be available on a desktop computer via a web browser, that will not change.

To accomplish this, the game will be simplifying some mechanics, cleaning up others, and generally adjusting to what it means to be played on a mobile device.

Exploration
Some game mechanics will change, instead of actively exploring as the only option as it is today, you can choose to send a pet out to explore passively for you. Your pet is slower then you are, and the rewards less, but it allows you feel like you are doing something. This passive pet exploration is designed for players who feel like they cannot actively play, but still want to feel like they are achieving and participating.

Crafting
You will see this type of play also in crafting, which will see an overhaul. For instance, now food is mainly crafted (cooked, or crafted), instead of being purchased, with food becoming ever more important with the passive gameplay which will drain your pets hunger bars aggressively.

Menagerie
We will see a change in how pets are managed, with each player having a team of 5 active pets, and the rest are send to your Menagerie, where they will be fed and kept healthy, but cannot participate in activities.

These are three features that are listed, with more to come. As the team focuses on this, and prepares to preview these regularly here and on our Discord, we want your input! Expect regular news updates as we progress through this amazingly exciting journey.
