LIZ
items art question, what kind of art is most needed for a pet site? can someone give me a list of items people are looking for? thank you. LIz
Azrael
It really depends on the type of site it is, like for an equine sim you'll need bags of feed, tack, treats, grooming tools, and general food items like apples and carrots. Fantasy gets a little tricky, but you can't go wrong with different foods, even make up your own foods, which I've seen personally you're really good with! Something my games need is things you'll find hidden in the woods, like sticks, acorns, pinecones, stones, minerals, small animals. These are just ideas to get your imagination going. I don't know for sure what's most needed out there, but I wish you the best of luck!

Martyn
@LIZ There used to be quite a community on DeviantArt for art tutorials relating specifically to items. Once I'm home tonight I'll go try and find some of the ones I remember for you. ?

Martyn
@LIZ Item Tutorial for Daelune by Elz-Art, it's a bit old now but her style is one I've always regarded highly and I think maybe looking at some of her other works could be useful. I could always provide you with items she did for me as reference points too, of course only if needed. ?

dracula
I've personally always been fond of subeta's style, or something similar to https://www.deviantart.com/kirawra/art/VPS-Plants-495487923 Something like the example you posted above (the potted fruit tree) but a bit sharper, I think? Anoua
I'm not really an artist, but was thinking a fun experiment might be to take the item and draw it multiple times in different styles, maybe like a dozen or so. Would probably help to learn a bit more about style matching and drawing in different styles. Just a thought, but if you do would be cool to see your results. For me purchasing items for my games or projects it really depends on what I need, but having a style that matches one of my projects is pretty important too. So even if the items are things I might be interested in, it also has to fit into the project I would want it for. Which can be kind of hard to do when games can have such different styles in general. So it's really hit or miss. But if you can style match more it would open you up for more commissions in general.
