  1. I've had my PS4 for a little while now, and I can definitely agree @Digital - the selection for the PS4 is still bare, even though it's been a few years already. I used to keep up on the PS Store's sales and poke around the digital download games, but a lot of them are pretty disappointing in uniqueness and length. I have a couple sitting around that I need to finish, but just aren't that interesting. It's got some really amazing exclusives, and I usually don't mind replaying games, but I want more! I was disappointed that progress on The Last of Us 2 wasn't shared though. D: Otherwise if I forget that I only have a PS4, I agree that Nintendo brought the best to E3! I'm excited to see more to come to the Switch!
  2. I think item sinks can be just as important as currency sinks, as long as it's well balanced! It really depends on how items function for your game. Are there quests to take some items out of the game? Do most items have uses (consumption, crafting material, etc)? If items last forever, does that make them special, or do players gradually try to upgrade or use&sell? What do you think players will do with "junk items" (I think of Neopets and all the stuff given out through dailies)?
  3. Haven't really been logging, but I've been doing my dailies on PF and Flight Rising. I finally got all my dragons fed! I check up on Neopets for the Altador Cup, but the charm usually wears off quickly :'D You can only go so many years grinding on that thing. I usually don't get past the first few ranks, but somehow last year I got to rank 11. I'm currently on rank 3 this year.
  4. I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about this yet! What did you think of this past E3? (This isn't the prettiest list, but it seemed to be the most complete summary for all platforms. Be sure to check on Youtube for trailers!) Since I don't own a Switch or XBox, I'm really excited for the new Monster Hunter, Spiderman, and Horizon DLC for PS4! I've been following the creator of Moss on Twitter (some really enlightening WIPs) and I'm a little disappointed that it's likely only for the PS VR. Many of my friends say that Nintendo "wins" E3 though - do you agree with them?
  5. Horizon gets its first DLC! You can preorder it now, but it doesn't come out until the end of December.
  6. GUH! How are these ??? so cute ??? I need all of them!
  7. Thank you for that! Hmm, I still think there should be more white or light gray or something, and less of a reliance on color. Do you have an example of how this layout would look like on a content page? (explore page, my pets page, etc)
  8. @Boltgreywing I know you've posted about this challenge with palettes before, but I don't remember why you're only working from 27 colors? Is it specifically for people with colorblindness? I did some googling to try and understand it better. This article seemed to imply it was more about shades, or values, that helped to differentiate a website for folks with color deficiencies. Contrast and different visual cues help to distinguish things, and I think you've definitely got contrast going on but the red+cyan is just really really strong and a little harsh on the eyes. I like the colors you picked for the "Welcome to Duelingpets" and the sidebar! The dark blue background looks a little dated to me, but otherwise isn't bad. I'd definitely say this is a big improvement from the other ones I remember! I found some other websites that helped me understand better, and they have some really good tips for designing websites that are friendly to the color impaired! [ Colorblind Website Filter (test any website by URL) ] [ Tips for Designing Colorblind Friendly Website ] I also found some other palettes with some more earth tones and other less vibrant colors! I think something that can also really help is tweaking the layout a little to rely less on color, and more on defined content areas. Maybe your site could benefit from having white or something where all the main text and content goes, and leave the color to the headers, sidebar, and background? Please forgive me if I'm ignorant and listed any wrong information, I'm really interested in learning and helping, if I can!
  9. 6/9 Neopets Rank 2 for Altador Cup! Didn't spend much time here today, looks like there's a lot of drama with JumpStart wrongly flagging people as cheaters in the Cup. Pokefarm Did my quick dailies again, and summoned the island legendaries and cosmog! Novilar Restocked my shop, did my 100 steps and checked back in twice for my extra steps. Still trying to get coin for a lion!
  10. Wow, I like it! Definitely, keep going with it! I notice it gets pretty wild after a dozen fruit or so. About how long do you want people to play this on average until they die? Until it becomes impossible to continue? Around 20 fruits? 50? I'd keep tinkering with tweaks after you get deaths going (enemies spawn after every other fruit, slower enemies, etc) to get that balance. Excited to see the progress, please do share as you update it!
  11. 6/8/17 - It looks like I did a lot, but I only spent a little over an hour! P: Neopets Played in the Altador cup for a little bit, but I've gotta be careful not to get too distracted by the Skinner Box It ate away at my summer last year when I got to Rank 11. Only just leveled to 1, so I may shoot for about 5 or 6 this year. Pokefarm Did my quick dailies here as usual. Finally filled the Alolan dex to the point where I can summon the legendary pokemon of that area, so that's exciting! Flight Rising It's the 4th year celebration! Read the news post and started getting Baldwin resources so I can craft copies of the new apparel Novilar Did some more exploring so that I could finally buy the Lion festival skin! It's so gorgeous! Tomorrow I'm going to work on buying a lion to put it on C:
  12. Wow - so I just finished it last night. I feel like this game was made specifically for me lol. It hits everything I love and want in a game - big awesome creatures to take down, intuitive gameplay, gorgeous scenery, open explore areas with vantage points, character diversity (with a badass female lead), a storyline that kept surprising me from the very first trailer, and it had me questioning what I would have done in some of the scenarios it sets up. I can see myself playing this game multiple times, which is something I've had a hard time doing since the PS2 days. I really look forward to seeing another installment from this world (which is confirmed! From their website: “This is only the beginning of Aloy’s story and our exploration of the world of Horizon Zero Dawn, with the team already hard at work on an expansion to the story.”)
  13. Thanks @Digital! If you ever find time to pixel or try drawing, you're welcome to post it here <3 @Elm The summer can feel very short when you have a lot to focus on! What were you planning to improve on? Thank you so much @Nate , I couldn't agree more ^^
  14. Perfect timing! <3 I have more time over the summer, so I can finally participate in something like this c: I've already started hitting up Neopets, PokeFarm, and Flight Rising. I really want to get more into Novilar too!
  15. Hey everyone, with my schedule now opened up for summer break - I have a LOT of catching up to do with my art to get it where I want it to go. I figured I'd make this post so you can keep me accountable join in if you also have something art-related you'd like to learn or improve on! Critique is welcomed in this thread unless otherwise noted by the artist c: Here's a little agenda of what I plan on doing! Daily Speedpaints - Ranging from 10-30 minutes (depending on how much time I have or what the piece is) from artists who are masters of color. John Singer Sargeant, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, Nathan Fowkes, Jason Chan, Edward Degas, Crag Mullins ... to name a few for starting points. Studies - Personally, I need to get more comfortable with the human figure, especially portraits. I also want to push expressions and different poses, and practice construction so that I can make wacky stuff on the fly! Large Pieces - I also want to devote time to making a few larger pieces with developmental work, not only as a checkup but also for a portfolio. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I don't want to end up double posting every day with new stuff (or rather, just editing my old post), so be sure to post along with me!
  16. I think it's important to post quality content frequently. Fan art can usually get more attention, because it's interest related. But honestly, this is something I'm still trying to figure out for myself. I know in many cases it's a lot about marketing yourself rather than just skill (though you do need to have content that is appealing). Is there any resource (blog, video, etc) that someone found helpful in teaching about marketing?
  17. I think the traditional display is more friendly for guest view (and sometimes it's nicer to find a specific forum you want to view or post in) but I like Fluid a lot better than the Unread Content page.
  18. @Digital Right! When I first did it, I bought a background for all of my adopts and checked out with all of them in my cart at the same time. It only applied a background to one. Then I tried buying one at a time but those haven't worked either. I hard refreshed and waited a day or two and they're still blank.
  19. I'm looking forward to the changes! It'll be much easier to track their progress for evolution that way @Digital I'm having some trouble with backgrounds though - I can't seem to find ones that I already got to apply to my adopts. I bought several at a time but it only updated for one of my adopts. Buying them individually to apply to my other adopts one by one doesn't work either. Maybe a future update could look into this?
  20. So I've only been able to play in small bits between projects, but I just finished gathering all of the collectables, and I'm working on getting two more power cells so I can get that snazzy armor. I can't remember the quest name, but it's the one where you're warned that you can't go back after starting x__x I appreciate the heads up, but stuff like that terrifies me! So I'm just making sure I have everything all together. I love this game so much though <3
  21. Absolutely love that skin, I'll need to try and grab it!
  22. Oh my goodness, thank you so very much for these fantastic backgrounds @LIZ ! And thank you for making them free!
  23. I think it's important for players to feel that they are listened to and welcomed in a community. For Kasaria, I hope to have community driven goals, highlights, channels for feedback, and will work hard to help keep a positive atmosphere in the forums. A lot of pet sites, especially smaller dying ones, clearly don't have enough content or fresh additions to keep people coming back. But I've seen many cases where the small community stays for a good while, even years. Maybe people bond over mutual nostalgia for pet games? Or don't want all of their play time to be a complete waste? There will typically always be a small handful of players who seem to log in and chat daily, which I think is amazing. However, I don't think games should have to solely rely on the community aspect to keep players around. It is a game to play, after all! But if they can boast about gameplay accomplishments, chat with people of similar interests, and not have to deal with cliques or elitist figures (very important), then I think the forums could be a happening place. I know this isn't exactly the question, but I thought it may be important to add Interested to see what others say!
  24. @Digital - That's fine, I was just wondering what the original intention was I'd likely want to do the Fawsh, Oasis Naga, Dragon, or Cat. I still don't know how I'd want to recolor them yet, haha!
