Basically artists were claiming they were owed money for art. Other artists said no, there was never any cash payment given for art, and no one was promised any pay, that they were paid in site perks. The former owner also told me that no one was owed or promised money. But it basically ended up in a big ugly mess that stymied development. I had put a lot of resources already into the site, after purchasing it and buying new art etc, and the prospect of funneling more money and effort into it only to end up with a lot of ugliness surrounding the site just wasn't appealing. I'd like to see the site go back up for old time's sake, but it's not a modern game in any way, shape, or form and would never be a high-earning game in its current form, unless people are lots more nostalgic than I think they are

I still have the entire teripets site but scapped developing it as a site of its own due to backlash from former artists. I still hope to some day include a "teripets land" of some kind into aethria. I had toyed with the idea of putting the old teripets site back up and just dealing with individual artist complaints as they came, but unfortunately that would require an operating budget, and these days people are just not willing to spend on petsites like they used to, so I can't support it financially.

I'm sorry that it has taken so long to give you guys an update on progress! We've considered how the current game play has gone over with users, and identified some critical areas that require addressing in order for the site to reach its potential. At the top of the list is the deco system. It needs to be fixed so that it works as intended, including layering issues and khimbits not working in deco. Next, we know that the foraging system in khimeros has not been popular. The current plan is to change the system to gathering (a la Calligra and Aluriya) for quests and trash, and to include one foraging area for khimbit tokens and possible rares of some kind. In the longer term, we'd replace some of the current gathering to other activities like games or exploring, to keep gathering from getting too stale. The current chat system is under consideration, we'd like to know whether people favor an on-site chat room, or would prefer to stick with Discord as the main site chatroom. Finally, the aether doppels/fusions system doesn't seem to be popular. The current plan would be to potentially scrap that system and include aethers as growable Inklings. In order to get the deco system in working order and thus allow us to move forward with site development, we will need to raise funds for the programmer to complete that task. We are open to suggestions for things people would like to see and would be willing to spend money on, including custom items, custom growables, mystery packs, etc. To join the discussion, please meet us on Discord

No, although players love custom stuff so if you have a system that can handle lots of custom markings that could be a thing. I mean like if you have a pet that is 400x 400 then have a sheet that is 1200 x 600 and completely covered with random spots. Then have a second marking that is covered with random patches or speckles or whatever. Have the two sheets move independently and it will give a natural looking marking that's always a little bit different.

Yes like that except a large sheet covered wtih spots or whatever design you like. So instead of just moving the same design around on the base, you get a completely different look each time.

Khimeros has the pinta marking, which is a series of 6 markings and you can get either a marking between the parents' marking numbers OR totally random depending on the option you select while breeding. Not exactly the same but sort of similar idea. I don't know the exact programming behind it though. Another thing that I want to have implemented is similar to our dyes system, but instead of the user being allowed to choose where to put the dye, it would be a big marking sheet with say for example, lots of spots all over it and the system would move the sheet around and then mask to the base in a random spot. This would give a different marking to every offspring that carries that pattern gene, expecially if you layered two different sheets, maybe one with patches and one with spots.

This seems like a horribly bad idea for the developer. They put in all the work and money to develop a game, which they have to do with a specific game engine, and then at the end they have a CHANCE to win some money but have to give half the profits from the game to the contest promoter - which if it is any kind of a good game has a good chance to earn well over the prize money amount in its lifetime. I am not seeing any upside for developers here at all.

It's worked really well for aethria's development and site members prefer to use the discord chat instead of the site chatroom even now that we are open. It's really nice to be able to have the different channels. We have about 180 on the discord server currently.

Aethria is now open for free accounts! We do require that you use a registration code at this time, in order to keep the numbers of new users to a reasonable amount per day so we can evaluate the site stability. Codes are free! If you encounter anyone trying to sell or trade a code, please let us know so we can deal with that! If you'd like a code, please hop over to our discord server! I will hand out some codes each day. The site is in active alpha testing and still has some glitches and bugs, so be aware of that before joining! The site is pretty advanced for a game in alpha testing and has a lot of activities to do. The game is free to play but you can buy perks with premium currency. It has been a long time coming, but Aethria is nearly ready to open for Alpha release! What is Aethria? Aethria is a virtual world with several distinct lands with different types of pets, items and game play. The site will open with three active lands, Khimeros Caldera, Aluriya and Calligra. What kind of pets are available? Each land has its own activities and pets. Khimeros Caldera features "Khims", which are available in both collectable and unique colors. Khims are available for a limited time before they rotate out. Site members can find khim totem stones via foraging, playing the dice game, questing, etc., which can be redeemed for points toward purchasing "collectable" and "unique" khims. Unique khims are hand colored, with no two exactly alike! Unique khims can also be purchased through the cash shop. The khim breed available during alpha release is the Lambkin! Aluriya features "aethers", which are custom pets available to create via the custom demo. Members can also create second generation "doppels" of their customs to sell, and these doppels can also be fused together to create new pets! A single breed of Aether can have several different bases. Aethers can be general release or limited edition. The first available aether is the Kaze, which will be available in two different bases during Alpha release! Calligra features "inklings", which are grown using stone eggs scribed with magical dragon quills and mystical ink. Gather the items and bring them to Aysha and she will craft a growable egg for you! Care for your eggs to make them grow, and when mature, you can either keep the resulting offspring, or allow it to germinate into a new egg or eggs that you can grow again to work toward different color combinations. Colors will continue to morph for as many generations as you grow your eggs! The first Inkling available during Alpha release is the Swift! Sounds like something is not right. The genetic data shouldn't be taking up that much room in the database. Khimeros has a million+ pets with genetic data and that data doesn't take up much room. It's the images that take up massive space on khimeros. But from what I know of your game, most of your pets have static images yes? Every pet doesn't have its own separate image that needs to be stored? I can't see why your users shouldn't be able to have hundreds of pets without a problem if all the data is being stored properly. I'd get Judda to check that out for you.

I kind of feel like simply letting people have a subforum to post a post about their games is better as the action happens on the main forums and doesn't require any monitoring or work from staff above what the rest of the forums requires. It's how it's done on every other similar site I can think of, and always worked well.

Please take Aluriya off the list, it is closed. Some parts are being merged into Aethria, but Aethria is not open yet.

I believe I only had her skype info, and she stopped responding so, not much help.

Yeah I hired her to work for my site last year, then one day she just stopped responding with no warning. Never heard from her again. Turned out that some of the work I'd previously paid her for also ended up being lost because it wasn't committed to git so was overwritten at some point. Hope you have better luck than me!

Our programmer is back at work finishing up the last few programming tasks for Aethria, so we should be able to launch soon, though we don't have an exact opening date yet! We will be offering choose-your-own-account ID packages, standard alpha account packages, and pre-opening merchandise as soon as we feel comfortable that we have a reliable date for alpha release. While we will certainly continue to add features during the life of the site, Aethria will be a full-featured site upon opening, with several activities already available. Aethria needs probably about three more days to a week of programming before it is fit for account sales/beta launch. It's just finding someone to get those last days put in that is the problem -___-, as well as the faith that they are going to stick around for bug fixing once the site launches. SO I guess not so much starting a completely new project as getting an almost-finished product launched.
