  1. You sound like me!! Much luck on your renewed project. i also went the "neopets traditional" way and even dedicated some of my website in a throwback-esque fashion. You can check it out at www.TheMenagerieNook.com
  2. My site, www.TheMenagerieNook, is a collection focused game. You can collect pets (duh) and some items. Some of the items were biasely chosen as I would like to collect those things (dice, for instance). There will be plushies, too, but what other kinds of items makes you want to earn points (and if you do pet care, you can earn tokens)?
  3. Hey, all! I am working on my social media tactics. I'm looking to exchange ideas on getting more attention! Here are things I have done: I have a dedicated Facebook and Twitter account I post images of pets along with an animal fact (since my site is based on non-fiction creatures) On Twitter: I will look up related words and "like" posts. I won't necessarily follow that person, though. Should I? I use hashtags on twitter. Anyone else have any input? Thanks!
  4. The Menagerie Nook is open and free to sign up! Collect over 40 different pets (with more to come)! As TMN grows, we want to add more activities for both users and their pets. Right now, your pets can read books, farm, and search for various nature things! Taking care of their needs (food, water, toys, and cleanliness) is optional, but taking care of them awards you special tokens that you can spend in the token shop! The token shop is a privilege for those who take care of their pets! These items can not be gifted or donated. They are rightfully earned and a great way to show off your hard work. Make a show room and display your collection of items! Sign up, explore, and feedback is always appreciated! Thanks! -- Mel
  5. Update: there were a bit of login issues, but I believe they have been fixed now. There should be no problems with registering or logging in. Please check your spam for any of the emails. Thanks!!
  6. The Menagerie Nook, a little corner on the internet where you can collect and take care of virtual pets, is now LIVE! Please go to https://www.TheMenagerieNook.com OR https://www.TheMeNook.com and sign up. If you have any issues, please shoot me an email at [[email protected]]. Sign up is free. Playing and progressing is free. You can support us by purchasing pet credits and a percentage of proceeds go towards animal charities. You can find me on facebook, i mean.. Meta.. too: The Menagerie Nook | Facebook I am grateful for this community! Thank you!
  7. Good morning, all! It's time! I'm going to reopen my game on January 9th to the public. Anyone can sign up. http://www.TheMenagerieNook.com or http://www.TheMeNook.com This game is about collecting pets and items, taking care of your pets, and also being able to assign tasks to your pets. They can farm, read, and explore, with plenty more ideas in the works. It's free to play, but if you want to support the website, you can purchase special pets. A percentage of revenue will go towards charities, which users can vote on every day. This place is just getting started and I hope that it will generate enough income to continue the game. Any questions, please ask!
  8. Thanks for the reply! I decided to just add "buy now" buttons from paypal since I'm only selling four options on the site. Much easier to do.
  9. Welp. I paid someone to design a shopping cart for Magento for siteground but then they removed the application. Womp womp. Does anyone have a simple solution on how to have a cart for their site? I don't want users to have to sign up again and seems like all the SiteGround applications require that. Is there a simpler solution?
  10. Hey, @Azrael, and thanks for your insightful reply! I will definitely keep you updated on the launch! The pets on this game are based off real animals, so there are dogs, cats, and some wild animals, too! It's a game that is just *starting* and I have many more features I'd like to add, but they are much bigger and would need teams of more experienced people, but anyway. There is a touch of fantasy aspect where you can have a silly colored cat. My game is more about taking your time, playing at your own pace, and just collecting stuff. There's not a lot of P v P competitiveness other than the games that earn points have charts. I do want to expand in that area, as well as many others. It's a lot to take on myself, so I did what I could in the years I spent on it. I have a lot of exploring to do on this website, but I will definitely keep the community updated! I think they will enjoy it, or at the very least, see it's potential. Thanks, again, Azrael!
  11. Hey all! I'm here because I need help! I had a soft opening in the beginning of the year, and realized I had a lot of stuff to fix. So between then and now, and with my regular day job, I chipped away at my game. I worked on it for a very long time, and it's finally time to let the public in on it now that I had money for artwork. My creativity is limited, except when it comes to functionality. There really isn't a background, story, or environment in my game. It's pretty straight forward and "click and go" type, where you *can* play all day, but ideally, you come back when you can, do your tasks, and then be on your way. It was focused towards the working adult, if that helps clear things up. Anyway, it's not accessible yet, but as of right now, I have four major game play features, three point earning games (which are custom made), and all the pets and items needed to play. I completely removed the forum because I feel like there are enough social medias and we can connect in other ways. I also gave up on trying to add a forum to the website because the coding was too difficult to work around, to be honest. I rather just not have a forum! I know that may be a turn off to some, but is there a middle ground to satisfy the forum-wanters? What are some things you look at when you are first sign into a new game? What are things that drive you away? How do you feel about paying for some of the pets? The game is completely FREE. It's free to play, free to advance, and free to collect everything. The only paid thing are the special colored pets. That is to fund the game and also, a portion goes to animal welfare, so people can feel good and responsible where their money is going. I've been working on this game alone for almost the entire time, the artist I hired has been amazing to work with (I went through over a dozen artists trying to find him), and it's time I reach out for some help from experienced players and fellow game owners. One other thing: what kind of drama comes from these games? Other than people not getting along, has anyone had to go into a legal battle over their site? Thanks all for reading! If you're interested in becoming beta tester, please let me know. I need the experience!
