    FOUND

I built one in the past and may be able to help.
  4. LMAO - I know this feeling all too well. Doing that is a great way to learn - as long as you go in knowing "things will need to change" based on performance, bugs, etc. That's a great goal if you can make sure that the programmer has unit/integration tests in place (that actually cover the code). This will allow you to download the code locally and change things to see if they break which will further enhance your learning experience!
  5. This looks absolutely amazing! Best of luck with the Kickstarter!
  6. It is very much a rabbit hole, but a rabbit hole I dive deep into every so often. As you said, so much hard work just lost to the world. WaybackMachine can only do so much. Last year, I built up a second version of VirtualPetDirectory.com and rebranded it to OnlineGaming.Directory. One of the big issues I had with VPD was we didn't have any "offline storage" of the content, thinking that the owners should manage their own. This was mostly in keeping with "we are a simple directory of information". But now, with OGD, and GameSiteArt.com (linked with OGD) I've started the journey to revive the images as best I can. Of course, I need people's help for that. I have the assets for Icepets (which is still up and running), Misticpets, Kuepets and Cyopets available to me (I was either the owner, or was given consent by the owner). That being said since the site didn't build a lot of traction, I stopped uploading content to them unfortunately because it was a fairly time consuming process for me. I've tried to reach out to PaulSonny a few times in regards to Boopets because that was another site I really liked the art for, but similar to the whole development situation with him, where I just got no response unfortunately. A much more recent loss of a game site is Verpets. My hope is that it is still possible to revive but it may be dead in the water too I can't explain "why they don't sell off the material", maybe they think it's not worth the hassle. Basically at that point they are probably at the end of the ropes with the site and just want it over. I know that Misticpets is a bit of a special situation. Basically the server is still intact, it's just at a data centre and not turned on (and unable to be turned on remotely), so we are just waiting on a trip there. I absolutely loved digging a bit and seeing that Mythodreas still was up and running. Unfortunately over the years I lost touch with the owner, I'm hoping that their story is preserved. The lost content is absolutely brutal. It's my goal to dig as much of it as possible out of the graves that they currently are in to hopefully showcase the work that was done. One of the future plans for GameSiteArt.com was to add in art attributions to the because it's the artists that lose out even more. They used to be able to use the sites as a showcase for their artwork, but when they are gone (which is normally outside of their control) they lose their hard work.
  7. Great suggestions How is your learning coming along? Are there any issues you are having?
  8. Man I completely forgot about this until you posted in the thread I've now joined their Discord. Hopefully it goes places! I love the art for it.
  9. Welcome @Cherrypop Glad you made it
  10. Yeah it's very unfortunate that it went down again. I think part of the struggle was the community has changed a fair bit over the years and Carlos didn't have enough time for the filler threads. We are here, and have no plans to give up anytime soon so @Sunfang I'm really glad you were able to find us! Hopefully we can become your new home for lurking and hopefully posting
  11. It wasn't until I took over TGL that I realized all of the amazing tools that are built into it that make making your own forum feel even less useful. I know there are a few people on Fiverr who would be willing to do SSO (single sign on) implementations for forums with your own site.
  12. Sorry for the delay on the last few weeks!
  13. Sorry for the delay in posting. Here are the stats for April 21st:
  14. @Pixie Does a lot of amazing pixel art for IcePets not sure if she is interested.
  15. Firstly, your site looks amazing, it's honestly gorgeous. One thing that I would add in - from the looks of it you are looking for a developer who is used to Laravel (my assumption based on my poking around and the 404 page). Since I don't have an account I don't think I can answer these myself (at least entirely). Are all of the things listed in "Site Functions" complete already? When I first read that post, I assumed that you were saying "these are already here and we are adding on to it". But then when I started poking around it looked like they may not be? I was going through all of the documents and stuff and I did have questions, I know you you mentioned you would go into more detail if required. My guess this would end up being for the successful candidate (i.e. let's not show our inner workings to the world). Avatar/Character Wardrobe - Looking at that page, you have a relatively (if not complete) demo for it but the "save image" button just lets you download it. I'm assuming that you mention this needs to be worked on to make it actually persist to the user's account? During this phase, would you be adding in more restrictions as to what you are able to actually do with it? I.e. a user cannot add a decoration if they don't have the related item in their inventory? User Level - this seems heavily dependent on other features which are in different states of completion. For example: Post on message boards, Send/receive private messages - This would assume that message boards and private messaging are already built and we are just tapping into them? Pet Pens: Are you locked on the names "cravary" and "craviary"? Where, from my understanding "cravary" is the "pet" and the "craviary" is the pen that it belongs to? Maybe I'm wrong in that assumption but this is going to get very confusing very quickly. Especially when you have someone who when working makes typos (I correct them in code, but when sending IMs not so much). Having these two be off by 1 letter, and more-or-less sound the same tells me other programmers reading it will get confused (and most likely your users too). I'm very confused about the bit that they are items until placed into the pen. Maybe start that document with a definition of what a "cravary" is, etc? That way someone not as intimately familiar with the site like me can walk in and understand what's going on. Pet Breeding - This is a very big, and open-ended topic which could be a huge amount of effort (i.e. realistic genes) or a tiny amount of effort (i.e. flip a coin and you are an exact copy of the "parent") Item Crafting - This document talks about a bunch of different locations, but nothing about crafting. Would that be in another task? Pet Scavenging Missions - Is this just an item fetch quest? I got very confused with the word skills and a few other things in there it took me a while just to come to that point where I thought it was a fetch quest.
  16. @Vix is amazing to work with, I hope you find some great candidates!
  17. This past week's stats!
  18. That's really tough - I know a lot of sites have "non-competing product" clauses in their terms and conditions. Some possible locations would be: On TGL (Banner Ad top right) Apex Web Games PBBG
  19. Sorry for the delayed update from this week!
  20. @Syntax There was a conversation about the 500 error on Discord, the message was: Which tells me there is a weird pathing issue which used to work in "the old days" of KittoKittoKitto but now after a few steps it's not working.
