I have been involved with making art for pet sites since I was in high school, and I'm 27 years old now. IRL, even with a college degree in art, I'm finding it difficult to find any kind of job that helps me to feel happy and makes use of my passion. It has been difficult, and I worked several boring jobs for five years. I was recently let go from my last job of 1.5 years (not for a bad reason) and I decided to come back here after all these years. I have been met with nothing but positivity, wonderful people, and WORK! I just wanted to say THANK YOU to you guys, and to TGL, for giving me a place to come to. I really appreciate you guys, and I think you are all super nice and fun! You are all so passionate, and you're all working on amazing things. It warms my heart and makes my inner little nerd kid happy. God bless y'all! If you ever need someone to talk to or you just want to be friends, please feel free to add me on Discord! Kerpow#4917 I ❤️ TGL! I need this bumper sticker, BTW.

Why hello! My name is Tori, but I also go by Small moose the little moose! I'm happy you're here! I've been around the petsite scene since I was nine years old, I started out on neopets and actually met my husband there! Petsites have always been a major part of my life just because of how gorgeous the art styles are and how nice and supportive the people are! I would like to now actively contribute to the sites that played a major role in my life! It's always been a dream of mine to be able to work full time on just doing art and working for petsites, and now that I've found this website I feel it might actually be a possibility. 😄 I don't have much of a portfolio right now, I'm working with the Atrocity petsite team to help them with art and to help beef up my small petsite portfolio! I'll be updating this page as I get more art to actually post, but for now you'll have to bare with me! What I'm looking for I'm currently looking for full time work! I need to make at least $1,500 a month for this to be possible. Or about $50ish a day. I would like to be hired on for a site and stay with that site, but I know that sort've budget on art per month can be taxing for a single site. So I am also looking to be hired on here and there for random projects! I am most comfortable with 2d celshaded style but I am working on a bunch of other styles as well. Examples of my work Pets/Battle Monsters Items Minipets Other (Commissons, personal, ect) Prices I suppose this is the part you need to know if you want to hire me on for stuff! I'm not entirely sure what the norm is for items and the like, but here we go! =Items (100x100) $3 each =Pets/Battle Monsters (300x300) $25 =Minipets (150x150) $10 =Everything else, hit me up and I'll tell you how much the project will be! Even if you don't need anything but you know someone that might need something done, let them know about me! I do anything and everything!

Smallix is a pretty action packed and so we felt it necessary to conceptualize character behavior. Its also giving us a better feel for what we want for our splash screens for the various releases we plan to have in the future. This is the ideal complete evolution chain of a smallix creature. Just by looking at it, you can quickly tell that we were inspired by pokemon and digimon, however, this is not a pet battling game. Our team has been prototyping a LOT and me showing you everything we have would only spoil the fun for you guys but we are slowly narrowing and refining the evolution process for all the small creatures. These animations is just me demonstrating that we are hard at work to get these creatures to be ready. Animation is a time consuming process, because of look and feel. We are bringing all of our creatures to life and we want them all to have the type of personality that we all love and hold dear. As a final update, our team has finally settled on the domain for the site and we've registered it. In addition to that, we had been brainstorming, tweaking and constantly iterating over the core game mechanic and I have to say, with everyday that goes by, I get more and more satisfied with it. We have to get through a few more obstacles with the game-play and if everything fits we can move out of the tweaking/adjusting/brainstorming phase and move to the polish and refine phase. All of these updates can be found on our facebook page: VirgilOne Facebook New to Smallix? Smallix is a semi - vegetation simulator with role playing elements. You start with a special creature (the smallix creature) that can alter the balance of vegetation in various forests. Altering the balance of vegetation can cause different crops to grow and can change the different creatures that slowly inhabit that particular forest. the different foods your smallix creature eats allows it to grow different abilities, features and traits to help you bring back balance.

Hooo boy, do I have some recent art to show you guys! Lately, I've been getting the hang of Clip Studio and started to experiment with things like doing dynamic poses and perspectives as well as working with my painting skills more. Oh and most of these are personal fan art, but the one with the cyclops is someone else's character that I just wanted to draw. 😄

So, I've been posting on TGL and using it as a resource but I've never really introduced myself! My name is Virgil and I am a lover of virtual animals! I absolutely enjoy watching/talking nba basketball, and enjoy playing video games (although I'm not really caught up with what's hip right now). I do talk a lot in social circles (in person) but on the internet I am a bit more reserved. My greatest goal in life I hope to achieve is to someday be able to wake up at any time and not feel the pressure of having to report in to work so that I don't get fired XDD. For the past few years, I've been involved in this game project and boy o boy can I say its been extremely fun, challenging and eye opening. Having to work on an idea of 4-6 weeks, toss it out, rinse and repeat and working within a team has been an incredible experience. Though I do feel like this year, the project has turned a serious corner. Nice to meet you all, and don't be shy and say hello if you feel like it!

What is Synodic? Synodic is a web-browser fantasy role playing game which aims to entertain young adults. We want players to feel freedom in the way they navigate the game and create lasting friendships through an interwoven story focused on community and engaging character development. Our game is created by players, for players -meaning we are aiming to put the control back into the consumer’s hands. This team is focused on promising each event, item, creature, and consumable is crafted with the player’s enjoyment in mind. Choice has been something we feel has been lacking in currently available games - our aim is to hand it back. Through the integration of decision based story progression and complete transparency (i.e. no loot boxes), we hope to make an enjoyable and unique experience. Launch Time Frame We are a small team hoping to launch in the Spring of 2020. Currently we are looking for a programmer to work on the project. All species assets have been created, and web design is being tackled. Synodic is aiming to have a crowd funding campaign towards the end of the year, details to come. For now, if you have an interest in joining the team or about possible opportunities, please email us at Info.Synodic@Gmail.Com

Hm from my personal experience playing petsites and such it seems that many look for stylized art with cel shading. On pet breeding sites with somewhat realistic genetics etc. everyone seems to lean towards (semi)realism with painted shadings. Personally I prefer to do cel shading because when done well it can look great and it's much easier/faster to do. Painted shadings can look pretty bad if not done well and as an artist it's a nightmare to replicate.

If you paid for the work, then you have the rights to use it, even if the full commission was not completed. If you didn't pay in full, or haven't paid in full, then it gets a little tricky. I would regardless attempt to reach out with the individual as much as you can.

Folk of Lore is a multiplayer, browser based game which encourages and rewards players for interacting with each other as well as npcs. Begin your journey in a postmodern world where dark magic has transformed the world and all its inhabitants into cryptids & creatures of folklore. Build your character as a neutral, hero, or antihero, and directly influence the game's story by participating in events and quests which raise or lower your character's karma. FOLK offers 4 starter races: Lycan, Unicorn, Jackalope, and Kitsune. Each boast special abilities and magic and/or strength boosts of their own. Navigate through an open world map to complete quests, unlock plot secrets, and capture elusive creatures called cravaries! Cravaries can be bred, battled, and trained as long as they are kept in proper health and happiness. Bond with them overtime and discover all the wonderful abilities they have to offer. Or imbue them with magic stones to unlock additional elemental potential. Seek guidance from your npc Pathseeker (Leia or Liam) for hints towards your karma, as well as discovering hidden information to unlock new playable characters! Back when I started in the Virtual Pet community I was a kid and had no money. Now I'm fairly savvy with the server side of things and how to get free hosting on a few platforms and would like to help others get into doing programming for whatever web based project they're working on. My primary goal here is just to help newbies getting into programming like I was. I'm offering some free cPanel hosting here: https://just.ninja/hosting/ Also I can help getting started with cloud providers like: Google Cloud Platform - Offers a bunch of services for free (I highly recommend it) Amazon Web Services - Offers a 12 month free tier hosting Microsoft Azure - Has a 12 month free tier, $200 credit for 30 days, and a few free services These platforms are still a bit hard to get into for people without specific experience with them, but I'm happy to help anyone wanting to use them. Feel free to send me a direct message for help. Side note: I think this is the most appropriate section for this post, but if it's not, please do move it to the correct place.

You've heard the rumours. You've seen updates. You may have lost faith. But we're here to tell you the layout updates are happening in the very near future! Starting on May 4, we will be opening an Open Alpha Testing Server for all interested Users to participate in finding bugs and working out kinks before the live launch. This will be on an entirely separate server, so your actions over there will not affect your account in any way, but rather serve as a dummy account for you to play around with. The layout updates aim to provide a clean, modernised user interface and improved game experience, as well as large amounts of behind-the-scenes programming to make your IcePets experience the best it can be. We've prepared a preview of some of what's to come! Everyone is welcome to join in the alpha testing, and for your help you'll receive a Participation Trophy. Bugs discovered will be recorded publicly, and there will be special rewards for anyone who brings new bugs to our attention. Please be aware that because this is an alpha test, there may be lag and glitches, which is why we need your help to smooth things out before transferring it all to the live site! We appreciate everyone bearing with us this far. We know it's been a long time coming, and we have heard your feedback in the meantime. After the updates go live, we will be able to refocus Staff resources on new features and games for the future, as well as continued improvements to existing features and artwork. Everyone on Staff is excited for what's coming, and we hope you will be, too!

Here are some adoptables we sold recently!! We're doing a fun little thing where we have a certain theme for these new adopt sets, which we're calling series 1. The first was the sweets set, and the second recent one was the plants set. For these we have 1 taller bipedal design, 1 quadruped design, and 1 squishy bipedal design. We've also thrown in some pets for goals during the auction, so those have been fun to come up with as well!! ✨

I've found that most pet/sim sites have 3 styles: toony neopets style, semi-realistic (think lioden), and realistic. Virtual pets tend to almost always use neopets style art and look similar to one another, so that's in the highest demand, while sims tend to use more realistic styles. I agree with @st4nn1s that cell-shaded toony art is the easiest to replicate, since the anatomy and shading are simple. When you get into the more realistic and complicated anatomy + shading, things get harder to replicate and the ability to do it well across multiple artists (and have it look seamless) gets harder and harder.

It was a beautiful sunny day when Oliver arrived at Rainbow Falls, perfect weather for taking some great photos of the landscape. He'd been hired to get a few shots for the SolMag but to be honest he would do this even without the job, Rainbow Falls was a wonderful place and he already had a thousand photo ideas in mind. He started walking around the area, taking shots every now and then, eventually climbing the hills, hoping to get some good landscape photos. Once that was done he decided to take a break, resting under the shade of a tree and setting the camera beside him. It wasn't long however until he heard footsteps nearby and turned to see a pet he'd never seen before. It looked a like a sheep, but with a rather impressively huge wool coat. The purple creature looked at him, a small smile on its face. "Hello buddy, who might you be?" Oliver asked with a smile, curious about his new company. The sheep like creature just continued looking at him, holding his attention. That's when he heard a noise behind him and turned around just in time to see another one of these pets, this one blue with a bright pink mane, quickly dart away, his camera held in its mouth by the strap. "Hey!" Oliver shouted, immediately taking off after it. He chased it around the hills and eventually up the mountain terrain of the Falls. There had been a few close calls but he always missed the pet, it would then briefly turn toward him and give off an indignant "Baaah!" before dashing off again. Somehow in this whole mess the creature even managed to get the camera around its neck. On one hand that meant it would be harder to retrieve, but on the other it also meant the camera was in far less danger of being dropped, Oliver was at least grateful for that. Eventually he realized though that he couldn't outrun the pet, it was already faster than him and he was getting tired too. He looked around, hoping to find something that will help him catch the little thief. That's when the paths in front of them split, with the pet running down the lower route. Oliver knew it was risky, but he hoped the upper route would be a shortcut. He charged up the rocks, following the twisting path until he reached the edge. He could hear the pet approaching, meaning he indeed got a shortcut. It was a bit high, but still manageable, thus he crouched down and prepared to pounce when the time was right. Soon enough the sheep came running down the path, a bit slower than before and looking back every now and then. He wondered if it was looking for him, but there wasn't much time to contemplate on that. The moment the pet got close enough he jumped over the edge and started sliding down the wall. However the pet noticed him and made a quick turn, resulting in Oliver barely touching its flank before it jumped away, leaving him laying in the dust. "Dammit." Oliver exclaimed in defeat, he let his head thunk against the ground, too tired to go chasing after it again. However he didn't hear it run off again, in fact he heard the steady sound of hooves approaching, not in a run but a paced walk. He didn't even want to look up, for all he knew this was another trick, but instead he heard something being carefully set down. He looked up and there was his camera, he immediately snatched it up, looking it over for any damage. He sighed in relief after confirming it was still intact. "Baaah!" Came a rather annoyed call. Oliver looked back at the pet, it somehow looked... Offended? Indignant? Honestly Oliver should be the one feeling like that after what the little thief did. "What do you want?" He asked, sitting up and patting some of the dust out of his hair. "Baah." The pet smiled and proudly lifted its nose in the air, presenting its mane. "Ummm. What?" The photographer was still confused about what this strange pet wanted. "Bah!" The pet looked indignant again, then it bumped its nose against Oliver's hand and once more raised its nose into the air, putting its mane on show. "Okayyyy." Believing he got the hint, Oliver reached up to pet the creature's fluff. That was, without a doubt, the softest thing he had ever touched. The mane was incredibly fluffy and he could only imagine how wonderful it would be to have a bed made of this stuff. Way too soon though the pet stepped away, though it nonetheless seemed pleased. It gave of one more "Baah!" before happily trotting off. Oliver watched it leave, really not sure what to think of the encounter but far less upset about it than before. "That was quite impressive, not many can gain Prince's approval." Said a female voice behind him. Oliver jumped and immediately turned around to find two more of the sheep pets standing by the spot he jumped down from earlier. There was the purple one from before, joined by a yellow one this time. "I guess? Although he caused me quite a bit of tro- wait, so you guys can talk after all?" The two pets giggled before the purple one spoke again. "Of course we can." "But you see, Prince doesn't talk unless he really wants to." The other snickered. "Right." Oliver decided not to question it. That most definitely was one crazy day.

I've recently hired Dinocanid as a Consultant for project smallix, and he has been tremendous. He's very responsive, produces work of tremendous quality, is accountable. He's currently continuing to work with me on a consultant basis, however I can't emphasize enough how much of a pleasure it is to work with him and how versatile his skillset is. Hi! I am looking for someone who may be interested in forming a partnership with me on a game idea i have been working on for a few years now. I have a site and database ready to go right now and a handful of code bits i need attached to it. What is the name of the project? I am calling the project Virtual Loft What am i looking for exactly? I am looking for someone who is knowledgeable in php, mysql, html, and css. I am more of the visual artistic type and have limited knowledge on the code needed. But i am learning so fear not! I am also looking for someone that is interested in my project. I will list more info below. What are we working on exactly? The project i have been working on is a browser based pigeon breeding and exhibition game. The basic idea of the game is to be able to breed pigeons with either a made up genetic system, or a realistic genetics system (whatever may sound better and more user friendly) To be able to show pigeons in either purebred shows that are judged on statistics that the birds are born with, highest statted bird wins sort of thing. To be able to race racing homers. This is more a system that works with the birds born strength, stamina, and possibly instinct stats. (there is a weather system i have in mind for this bit). To be able to show birds in pet shows. This is something that is still statistic based but it could allow for crossbreds and possibly fantasy colors/breeds/mutations that would otherwise not be allowed in the general pure bred show. I am also interested in having some minigames later developed to do with pigeons but id like to have the basics covered first. Let me know what you guys think! PM me or comment if you think you may be interested. Im not really looking for artists at the moment, just coders. Thanks for the interest! What do we have so far? I have at least one person on board that knows php/mysql, but would absolutely be open to more people if theres interest. Im still ironing out some things since i was pretty sick for a few days but ill have some more info to roll out soon enough ❤️ Some artwork:

Hi everyone! My name is Nicole, and I was a frequent user on virtualpetlist.com a while ago. Over the years I have worked on quite a few browser based games, mostly petsite, adoptable, and rpg related. While many of them never left my desktop, I finally have a game online that I am exited about and I'd like to share. Collectry.com is a browser based collecting game. To those familliar with traditional petsites, it's kind of like a petsite without the pets? Items are organized into series and are assigned a rarity. You can purchase a random item from the series in a "blind bag" type manner, and the goal is collect them all! A prominent feature of the site is trading and increasing your luck via gifting items. Any user can upload a series of their own too! In itself, I admit, it's not the most fun game to just spend hours playing - this is where the most exciting feature comes into play: Collectry.com is an OAuth2 resource and authentication server. This means that just like how you can login via social media on some sites, 3rd party sites will be able to let users "login"/link their collectry accounts to their own game. Once the collectry user is identified, the 3rd party site can access all their applicable collectry data, such as which items they have, or what series are completed. With just a quick check to the API, petsites and games can award items to users or unlock special features. For example, if users complete an entire holiday themed series on Collectry, they could receive a special holiday item on the petsite. Likewise, it can work the other way around. When a user collects a particular item on the petsite, the site can communicate with collectry and reward the user with a special item. The ability to directly purchase an item from a series can be turned off, so participating on the petsite could be the only way to get the item! ...and to take it even further, two petsites could even collaborate and interact! An action on petsite 1 could result in an item, which is then sent to collectry, which petsite2 could access. This could unlock a feature on petsite2! So many possibilities! ----- So... I'm looking for people to play test the site, find bugs, and suggest improvements! The site is live right now at Collectry.com, and is currently using public domain images for items. No emails will be sent out, so just register and sign in! Code was prioritized, so it's definitely not the most visually appealing site yet. Some pages may seem a little confusing due to the lack of good UI design. (sorry!) All of the data on the site will be purged at some point in the future before the Beta release. Possibly several times, so don't get too attached to your username or items or anything. Feel free to upload your own series too! Items need to be PNG images with transparent backgrounds. I'm quite proud of the user interface to do so (although I am aware of a few minor bugs/usability issues). Once submitted, I will need to personally review and approve it, so send me a message or email if I forget. I'm also looking for in-development games that are interested in taking advantage of the OAuth2 server, preferably someone with access to a developer who is willing to work with me to get it setup/linked correctly. I've tested it locally, but not with a real 3rd party site. Thanks so much and I look forward to continuing to develop and refine this game! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
