I have been involved with making art for pet sites since I was in high school, and I'm 27 years old now. IRL, even with a college degree in art, I'm finding it difficult to find any kind of job that helps me to feel happy and makes use of my passion. It has been difficult, and I worked several boring jobs for five years. I was recently let go from my last job of 1.5 years (not for a bad reason) and I decided to come back here after all these years. I have been met with nothing but positivity, wonderful people, and WORK! I just wanted to say THANK YOU to you guys, and to TGL, for giving me a place to come to. I really appreciate you guys, and I think you are all super nice and fun! You are all so passionate, and you're all working on amazing things. It warms my heart and makes my inner little nerd kid happy. God bless y'all! If you ever need someone to talk to or you just want to be friends, please feel free to add me on Discord! Kerpow#4917 I ❤️ TGL! I need this bumper sticker, BTW.

Smallix is a pretty action packed and so we felt it necessary to conceptualize character behavior. Its also giving us a better feel for what we want for our splash screens for the various releases we plan to have in the future. This is the ideal complete evolution chain of a smallix creature. Just by looking at it, you can quickly tell that we were inspired by pokemon and digimon, however, this is not a pet battling game. Our team has been prototyping a LOT and me showing you everything we have would only spoil the fun for you guys but we are slowly narrowing and refining the evolution process for all the small creatures. These animations is just me demonstrating that we are hard at work to get these creatures to be ready. Animation is a time consuming process, because of look and feel. We are bringing all of our creatures to life and we want them all to have the type of personality that we all love and hold dear. As a final update, our team has finally settled on the domain for the site and we've registered it. In addition to that, we had been brainstorming, tweaking and constantly iterating over the core game mechanic and I have to say, with everyday that goes by, I get more and more satisfied with it. We have to get through a few more obstacles with the game-play and if everything fits we can move out of the tweaking/adjusting/brainstorming phase and move to the polish and refine phase. All of these updates can be found on our facebook page: VirgilOne Facebook New to Smallix? Smallix is a semi - vegetation simulator with role playing elements. You start with a special creature (the smallix creature) that can alter the balance of vegetation in various forests. Altering the balance of vegetation can cause different crops to grow and can change the different creatures that slowly inhabit that particular forest. the different foods your smallix creature eats allows it to grow different abilities, features and traits to help you bring back balance.

Why hello! My name is Tori, but I also go by Small moose the little moose! I'm happy you're here! I've been around the petsite scene since I was nine years old, I started out on neopets and actually met my husband there! Petsites have always been a major part of my life just because of how gorgeous the art styles are and how nice and supportive the people are! I would like to now actively contribute to the sites that played a major role in my life! It's always been a dream of mine to be able to work full time on just doing art and working for petsites, and now that I've found this website I feel it might actually be a possibility. 😄 I don't have much of a portfolio right now, I'm working with the Atrocity petsite team to help them with art and to help beef up my small petsite portfolio! I'll be updating this page as I get more art to actually post, but for now you'll have to bare with me! What I'm looking for I'm currently looking for full time work! I need to make at least $1,500 a month for this to be possible. Or about $50ish a day. I would like to be hired on for a site and stay with that site, but I know that sort've budget on art per month can be taxing for a single site. So I am also looking to be hired on here and there for random projects! I am most comfortable with 2d celshaded style but I am working on a bunch of other styles as well. Examples of my work Pets/Battle Monsters Items Minipets Other (Commissons, personal, ect) Prices I suppose this is the part you need to know if you want to hire me on for stuff! I'm not entirely sure what the norm is for items and the like, but here we go! =Items (100x100) $3 each =Pets/Battle Monsters (300x300) $25 =Minipets (150x150) $10 =Everything else, hit me up and I'll tell you how much the project will be! Even if you don't need anything but you know someone that might need something done, let them know about me! I do anything and everything!

Hooo boy, do I have some recent art to show you guys! Lately, I've been getting the hang of Clip Studio and started to experiment with things like doing dynamic poses and perspectives as well as working with my painting skills more. Oh and most of these are personal fan art, but the one with the cyclops is someone else's character that I just wanted to draw. 😄

You've heard the rumours. You've seen updates. You may have lost faith. But we're here to tell you the layout updates are happening in the very near future! Starting on May 4, we will be opening an Open Alpha Testing Server for all interested Users to participate in finding bugs and working out kinks before the live launch. This will be on an entirely separate server, so your actions over there will not affect your account in any way, but rather serve as a dummy account for you to play around with. The layout updates aim to provide a clean, modernised user interface and improved game experience, as well as large amounts of behind-the-scenes programming to make your IcePets experience the best it can be. We've prepared a preview of some of what's to come! Everyone is welcome to join in the alpha testing, and for your help you'll receive a Participation Trophy. Bugs discovered will be recorded publicly, and there will be special rewards for anyone who brings new bugs to our attention. Please be aware that because this is an alpha test, there may be lag and glitches, which is why we need your help to smooth things out before transferring it all to the live site! We appreciate everyone bearing with us this far. We know it's been a long time coming, and we have heard your feedback in the meantime. After the updates go live, we will be able to refocus Staff resources on new features and games for the future, as well as continued improvements to existing features and artwork. Everyone on Staff is excited for what's coming, and we hope you will be, too!

Hi everyone! My name is Nicole, and I was a frequent user on virtualpetlist.com a while ago. Over the years I have worked on quite a few browser based games, mostly petsite, adoptable, and rpg related. While many of them never left my desktop, I finally have a game online that I am exited about and I'd like to share. Collectry.com is a browser based collecting game. To those familliar with traditional petsites, it's kind of like a petsite without the pets? Items are organized into series and are assigned a rarity. You can purchase a random item from the series in a "blind bag" type manner, and the goal is collect them all! A prominent feature of the site is trading and increasing your luck via gifting items. Any user can upload a series of their own too! In itself, I admit, it's not the most fun game to just spend hours playing - this is where the most exciting feature comes into play: Collectry.com is an OAuth2 resource and authentication server. This means that just like how you can login via social media on some sites, 3rd party sites will be able to let users "login"/link their collectry accounts to their own game. Once the collectry user is identified, the 3rd party site can access all their applicable collectry data, such as which items they have, or what series are completed. With just a quick check to the API, petsites and games can award items to users or unlock special features. For example, if users complete an entire holiday themed series on Collectry, they could receive a special holiday item on the petsite. Likewise, it can work the other way around. When a user collects a particular item on the petsite, the site can communicate with collectry and reward the user with a special item. The ability to directly purchase an item from a series can be turned off, so participating on the petsite could be the only way to get the item! ...and to take it even further, two petsites could even collaborate and interact! An action on petsite 1 could result in an item, which is then sent to collectry, which petsite2 could access. This could unlock a feature on petsite2! So many possibilities! ----- So... I'm looking for people to play test the site, find bugs, and suggest improvements! The site is live right now at Collectry.com, and is currently using public domain images for items. No emails will be sent out, so just register and sign in! Code was prioritized, so it's definitely not the most visually appealing site yet. Some pages may seem a little confusing due to the lack of good UI design. (sorry!) All of the data on the site will be purged at some point in the future before the Beta release. Possibly several times, so don't get too attached to your username or items or anything. Feel free to upload your own series too! Items need to be PNG images with transparent backgrounds. I'm quite proud of the user interface to do so (although I am aware of a few minor bugs/usability issues). Once submitted, I will need to personally review and approve it, so send me a message or email if I forget. I'm also looking for in-development games that are interested in taking advantage of the OAuth2 server, preferably someone with access to a developer who is willing to work with me to get it setup/linked correctly. I've tested it locally, but not with a real 3rd party site. Thanks so much and I look forward to continuing to develop and refine this game! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

So, I've been posting on TGL and using it as a resource but I've never really introduced myself! My name is Virgil and I am a lover of virtual animals! I absolutely enjoy watching/talking nba basketball, and enjoy playing video games (although I'm not really caught up with what's hip right now). I do talk a lot in social circles (in person) but on the internet I am a bit more reserved. My greatest goal in life I hope to achieve is to someday be able to wake up at any time and not feel the pressure of having to report in to work so that I don't get fired XDD. For the past few years, I've been involved in this game project and boy o boy can I say its been extremely fun, challenging and eye opening. Having to work on an idea of 4-6 weeks, toss it out, rinse and repeat and working within a team has been an incredible experience. Though I do feel like this year, the project has turned a serious corner. Nice to meet you all, and don't be shy and say hello if you feel like it!

With 9 faction options to choose from, players will be able to find one that best fits their play-style! Over 30+ customizable markings available at launch, 5+ mutations, and 4 Breeds, the combinations are endless! Each pet can have customized stats, which can help the player explore, battle, and quest! What is Synodic? Synodic is a web-browser fantasy role playing game which aims to entertain young adults. We want players to feel freedom in the way they navigate the game and create lasting friendships through an interwoven story focused on community and engaging character development. Our game is created by players, for players -meaning we are aiming to put the control back into the consumer’s hands. This team is focused on promising each event, item, creature, and consumable is crafted with the player’s enjoyment in mind. Choice has been something we feel has been lacking in currently available games - our aim is to hand it back. Through the integration of decision based story progression and complete transparency (i.e. no loot boxes), we hope to make an enjoyable and unique experience. Stay connected by following us on Twitter! Launch Time Frame We are a small team hoping to launch in the Spring of 2020. All species assets have been created, and web design is being tackled. We are moving into the programming phase! Synodic is aiming to have a crowd funding campaign towards the end of the year, details to come. For now, if you have an interest in joining the team or about possible opportunities, please email us at Info.Synodic@Gmail.Com

Slowly moving forward, but I finally added in the bank feature and made some final changes to the night sky theme (I need to work in a pretty environment lol). All the built in themes will also only use Bootstrap 4 now. Next things I'll start on soon are condensing the myadopts page (lots of unnecessary pages and redirects) and adding the auction and raffle features.

Posting this more as an accountability/development thread than an announcement of anything. Furry Realms is an online multiplayer RPG featuring anthropomorphic animals. I suppose the closest comparison would be RuneScape but without the fancy 3D graphics but also a bit of Stardew Valley in terms of pacing. It is a 2D graphical game (like Stardew Valley) with a focus on community, engaging stories that have closure, and having fun at your own pace. The premise of the game is based primarily in the mythological realm of Albion (where King Arthur, Camelot, the Round Table, etc. exist.) However, other realms are connected to Albion — all the realms of fiction and myth, in fact. Albion is merely the crown jewel; the place where the Storymancer weaves their magic and helps the heroes win. The plot involves a war between those who seek to twist the realms of myth and fiction to their own dark desires (feeling that the heroes always "get everything"), and those who seek to save the realms from that terrible fate. King Arthur leads the good folks for now, while an unknown enemy stirs up the disaffected. The realms are not yet fractured and in chaos, but rumours are surfacing that the Titans are climbing back up Mount Olympus in the realm of the Greek Gods, while in Victorian London, a menace stalks the streets murdering young women. A war brewing on many fronts, your character has many choices to make — but there are no "right" or "wrong" choices, only ones with consequences. Even choosing a side may prove surprising — just because they have the title of "hero" doesn't mean they deserve it... I had been working on this game for over 2 years, but foolishly I lost everything in a crash over the weekend and my backups are corrupted. 😞 So, I'm starting from nothing and working my way back up. This started off as a personal "game I'd like to play" but then some folks expressed an interest in wanting to play it too, or at least having access to a community that was a bit different from most games. Furry Realms is community led in most areas — it's nothing without a community, so there are deliberate design choices to include the community in the direction of the game, the species available, moderation, arbitrating disputes, and so on. While a perfect community is impossible, I want people to be invested and feel responsible for helping to create a community they want to play with every day. Additionally, I'm only one person and can't possibly have all the ideas and time needed to make this game a success after it's been developed. I'm not sure what else to add here — I need to get artwork commissioned and get the website back up. Most folks seem to post a list of features, but I don't know if me doing that would be particularly popular. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them. Discord at https://discord.gg/65RzGSz

Hm from my personal experience playing petsites and such it seems that many look for stylized art with cel shading. On pet breeding sites with somewhat realistic genetics etc. everyone seems to lean towards (semi)realism with painted shadings. Personally I prefer to do cel shading because when done well it can look great and it's much easier/faster to do. Painted shadings can look pretty bad if not done well and as an artist it's a nightmare to replicate.

If you paid for the work, then you have the rights to use it, even if the full commission was not completed. If you didn't pay in full, or haven't paid in full, then it gets a little tricky. I would regardless attempt to reach out with the individual as much as you can.

Folk of Lore is a multiplayer, browser based game which encourages and rewards players for interacting with each other as well as npcs. Begin your journey in a postmodern world where dark magic has transformed the world and all its inhabitants into cryptids & creatures of folklore. Build your character as a neutral, hero, or antihero, and directly influence the game's story by participating in events and quests which raise or lower your character's karma. FOLK offers 4 starter races: Lycan, Unicorn, Jackalope, and Kitsune. Each boast special abilities and magic and/or strength boosts of their own. Navigate through an open world map to complete quests, unlock plot secrets, and capture elusive creatures called cravaries! Cravaries can be bred, battled, and trained as long as they are kept in proper health and happiness. Bond with them overtime and discover all the wonderful abilities they have to offer. Or imbue them with magic stones to unlock additional elemental potential. Seek guidance from your npc Pathseeker (Leia or Liam) for hints towards your karma, as well as discovering hidden information to unlock new playable characters! At the moment we are still in early development, but you can contribute and earn cool rewards by visiting our Patreon when it opens on April 1, 2019! https://www.patreon.com/folkoflore Most of our development is shared via Tumblr: http://folk-kindling.tumblr.com/ Or on Discord: https://discord.gg/Ecgspxw You can find our other social media links there as well. And to quell some of that excitement, we've also posted a character creation demo on our website: http://folkoflore.com/ And we keep open applications for new artists at our application link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeI8OoerRJ6PEL0RwIQPlBIOibnMqxLO8vMYZc762-Dxwx6mA/viewform

Back when I started in the Virtual Pet community I was a kid and had no money. Now I'm fairly savvy with the server side of things and how to get free hosting on a few platforms and would like to help others get into doing programming for whatever web based project they're working on. My primary goal here is just to help newbies getting into programming like I was. I'm offering some free cPanel hosting here: https://just.ninja/hosting/ Also I can help getting started with cloud providers like: Google Cloud Platform - Offers a bunch of services for free (I highly recommend it) Amazon Web Services - Offers a 12 month free tier hosting Microsoft Azure - Has a 12 month free tier, $200 credit for 30 days, and a few free services These platforms are still a bit hard to get into for people without specific experience with them, but I'm happy to help anyone wanting to use them. Feel free to send me a direct message for help. Side note: I think this is the most appropriate section for this post, but if it's not, please do move it to the correct place.

Hey, I've been around here before, but I'm back to looking for work again. I'm currently open for commissions or work on a website- I've previously worked on Verpets, Spielpets & several others that I've since forgotten as it's been so long. I can make relatively quick turn around, depending on what you need and I'm willing to try about anything. I have previous experience with tattoo designs, linearts, childrens books and some technical drawing. Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of a portfolio any more, but keep various things saved here, which I'll upload, or can provide further examples if you let me know what you need! I'll update this as I find more examples, but if you're interested, shoot me a message and we can figure something out. 🙂 Pet art/Overlays: Items: Maps:

It's time for a new update, and I have quite a few things to show off today! -Site Theme- I designed a brand new theme for the site! The background tiles like it does because of my browser's screenshot extension. It's a single image on the actual site. I'm still in the process of drawing more art to add to the index page, and it still needs some fixing to scale properly on all screens, but other than that the final design is pretty much complete. Further in the future I plan to add a "light mode" for users that don't like darker interfaces. -Stockpile- I finally got around to adding the stockpile. Right now it just shows the rib item as a placeholder image, but in the future it may change depending on the amount currently stored. (So an empty stockpile would show a few scraps, a large stockpile will show a hoard of food) Rather than whole items, the food is stored as "points". A wolf's hunger goes from 0-100, so if your fullness is 80% then 20pts will be taken from the pile. I find this way much simpler and less wasteful than users consuming whole items and not needing the leftover points. (Then I would need to make scraps and all that stuff...I would rather not) When it comes to your personal stash however, you do consume entire food items. Well...almost. If you eat an item from your stash then you will waste any extra points a food item might have had. For example, if you're at 80% and eat an item with a 50pt food value, then 30pts will go to waste. It's much more beneficial to add your food to the pile, but some people will always decide to be greedy. -Pup 2.0- I decided that I wanted to remake the pup art since the old one didn't really capture the feel of a pup. This one is much more cheerful, while the old one looked like a deer in the headlights. While working on this lifestage, I decided to include some limitations. Pups will always have blue eyes and pink noses/paws until they reach 6 months. Once they reach 6 months, they'll show the colors they actually inherited. (for reference, they become adolescents at 1 year) The adolescent will be getting an update as well, but that will be in a later news post. -Content Warnings- I've finalized the content warnings for the site (as it stands). It's similar to Lioden, just without the suggestive/sexual references. The label itself is subject to change due to legal issues it could bring though. It'll most likely change in design before the site opens.

With a new avatar or shall I say icon now? What do I mean you say?! Well, it is said that a long time ago, when the planet was still young, a tragedy befell Solopia. A star had fallen from the heavens one night and got lost on the planet's surface. The sun and the moon themselves mourned the loss of the little star, cloaking the world in a gloomy darkness as they embraced each other in their sorrow. But none of the Solopians knew of that loss, for those who saw the star fall didn't understand its meaning, nor that of the darkness that suddenly surrounded their world. There was however one creature that was different. They were small and meek, living close to the ground and with no special abilities to match any of the other beings on the planet, except for one, long pointed ears that gave them exceptional hearing. For you see, ever since the star had fallen the creature had heard its crying far in the distance. The creature knew that to stop the gloom they would have to find the source of the crying, and so they went on the long journey to find the star. The creature had to face many challenges, from dangerous predators to tricky terrain, but eventually after weeks of traveling they reached their destination deep inside a jungle. Hidden beneath the tall trees and overgrown plants lay a newly formed crater and inside it was the little star. The creature was able to comfort the star and clutching it tightly to their chest the creature started climbing the tallest tree in the area, high up to its crown where both of them called out to the sky. Hearing those calls the moon and the sun descended and were overjoyed to be reunited with the star. "You have done us a great service, young one." The sun spoke. "Ask for whatever reward you wish, and we shall grant it." Said the moon. The creature thought long and hard about what they wanted before voicing their wish. "I am but a humble creature, there's nothing much to me. But I've admired many of the other beings of this planet and would wish to be more like them." "Speak your terms then." Said the sun. "I wish to be tall, so that I may easier reach the fruits of trees, and see what lies further ahead of me." "It is done." Spoke the moon. "What else?" "I wish I could change my coat and always match it to how I feel. I love the colors of the flowers and the other beasts' intricate patterns, but mine were always so dull, you see." "It is done." The sun said. "With this blessing you have not just been granted a single pelt, but also the knowledge to craft many more from all kinds of materials and colors, so you may always change it as you please. Anything else?" "Yes, one last wish, I've always envied the songs of the birds. I wish to be able to make the music they do, and mimic sounds as easily." "It is done." Said the moon once more. "But still you are not the strongest, don't you wish any natural weapons to defend yourself or fight for territory?" "No." Said the creature. "I only wish for peace, and I've already asked enough." "As you wish." Spoke both sun and moon in unison. "Your wishes are granted." The little creature was then enveloped in a blinding light, their form reshaping as they grew bigger and longer, eventually standing on two legs, a giant compared to their original form. All over their body appeared soft cloths, draping them in dashing colors that could rival the jungle's birds and flora. And within their minds they knew of songs and sounds they never heard before, and ways to make even more. The creature stood there now, unrecognizable as what they once were, for they were something entirely different now, except for one tiny detail, the sharp pointed ears that led them on this journey. The sun then spoke up again. "Dear creature, may we know your name?" And the creature responded. "I am human." Build Your Own Human Avatar Here

Here are some adoptables we sold recently!! We're doing a fun little thing where we have a certain theme for these new adopt sets, which we're calling series 1. The first was the sweets set, and the second recent one was the plants set. For these we have 1 taller bipedal design, 1 quadruped design, and 1 squishy bipedal design. We've also thrown in some pets for goals during the auction, so those have been fun to come up with as well!! ✨

He's currently continuing to work with me on a consultant basis, however I can't emphasize enough how much of a pleasure it is to work with him and how versatile his skillset is. He is a regular on TGL and already came highly recommended but I just can't help myself and share some positive words.

I am in need of an animation artist, to draw animation cycles in sketch form only for some of the creatures we have. We are currently prototyping some of our creatures. We are not looking for lineart coloring yet. We have some foxes, bears, coyotes and dogs that we need to produce animation for. If you're interested in this paid project. Please reach out to me via email: thedbzfan@gmail.com or discord virgil-one#8535 to discuss work details and your qualifications.

Wow, that's some amazing art. Your idea of not much portfolio looks like an impressive display to me. ProjectPetsite will be in need of art for the long term, I'll send a PM. Can you also do avatar art?

Cute sketches, I really like the style! I would think that sketches are easier than completed animal/npc art due to them being easier to adapt to specific styles. It might be worth (or fun) investigating, though, no? ;D Best of luck, I hope they all find good homes!

The icy mountains of Solopia were a cold and harsh environment, dangerous to traverse even for those experienced in navigating such terrain. One could never know when another blizzard would hit, and this is precisely how the human girl and her Chilee companion found themselves lost among the frozen land. Leianna trudged on through the heavy snow while Mia, the young Chilee, was bundled up in the human's coat. The blizzard made navigating through the mountains difficult and they didn't want to risk losing sight of each other, luckily Mia was small enough to be carried, allowing them to move on without anyone being accidentally left behind. But the journey was still anything but easy. "Le, are you sure this is the right way?" Mia asked in her soft voice. "The blizzard makes it hard to see, but I'm sure we are still on the right path." In truth Leianna wasn't too sure of that, but she didn't want to worry her friend. Leianna knew that they couldn't be too far from the way home, they had made most of the journey before the blizzard struck, but now she could only hope that it didn't throw them off course. If it didn't clear up soon, or if they can't find the way back to the valley, then they would need to find a safe place to wait it out. Leianna didn't want to think of the alternative... It was then that the human's thoughts were interrupted by a worrying sound. It was a low rumble that carried on the wind, loud enough to be heard over the storm. Mia immediately tensed up in Leianna's arms. "Was that an avalanche?" She asked as terror started spreading through her heart. "I.. I don't..." Leianna looked up, trying to find any signs of an oncoming avalanche. Yet as she looked through the storm she noticed something else. There was a large rock sticking out of the ground not far away from them and on it stood a shape. Leianna's first thought was that it was a Chimare, but no, it couldn't be, the more she looked the more it became clear that this was something entirely different. The creature stood proud and tall on top of the rock, seemingly unbothered by the storm raging around it. Mighty paws planted unyielding into the ground, strong body holding near eerily still as the icy winds billowed through its thick mane, two fearsome fangs protruded from its maw, and those icy blue eyes which looked directly at the two lost travelers, holding a grim and unreadable expression. Leianna just stood there in stunned silence, unsure of what to do. Then the cat-like creature jumped off its perch and started walking away from the course they were headed. For a moment the two girls thought that was the end of the encounter, but then they heard another rumble and saw the beast turning to look at them expectantly. That's when they realized the rumbles weren't an avalanche, but instead the beast's low roars, it wanted them to follow it. Leianna decided to trust the creature and started trudging towards it, if it wanted to harm them it could have easily done so by now, so wherever it was leading them it must be safer than here. Apparently satisfied to see the human follow, the feline continued on its way through the blizzard, leading ahead but still keeping a slow enough pace for the other two to not lose track of it. As they kept walking Leianna noticed the beast's pawprints in the snow, marveling at how big they were compared to her own, this truly was a being born for a life among the snow and ice. Time was a lost concept in a blizzard, but by Mia's judgement they must have been walking for about half an hour until finally the wind started growing weaker, a few minutes more and visibility grew as well as the blizzard calmed down to simple snowfall. That is when they saw the creature stop and sit down, only glancing briefly at them before directing its gaze forward again. The human caught up to it and the two girls were met with a welcoming sight, they had reached the end of the mountain roads and before them now lay the path toward the valley, toward home. The two wanted to thank their kind savior, but as they turned around they saw no one there. There was nothing left of the strange beast, nothing but huge pawprints in the snow leading back towards the mountains.

I've been working on a couple different things recently. The first is a full illustration for a client of a banner like image with their critter working in a forge and the second is a set of items for a different client for their game. Lots of work, but so far thinking it's turning out quite well thus far :3
